Abstract

We introduce an operational entanglement classification of symmetric mixed states for an arbitrary number of qubits based on stochastic local operations assisted with classical communication (SLOCC operations). We define families of SLOCC entanglement classes successively embedded into each other, we prove that they are of nonzero measure, and we construct witness operators to distinguish them. Moreover, we discuss how arbitrary symmetric mixed states can be realized in the laboratory via a one-to-one correspondence between well-defined sets of controllable parameters and the corresponding entanglement families.

Operational Families of Entanglement Classes for Symmetric N -Qubit States

Thierry Bastin, Stéphanie Krins, Pierre Mathonet +3 more

We solve the entanglement classification under stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) for all multipartite symmetric states in the general N-qubit case. For this purpose, we introduce 2 parameters playing a crucial role, namely, the diversity degree and the degeneracy configuration of a symmetric state. Those parameters give rise to a simple method of identifying operational families of SLOCC entanglement classes of all symmetric N-qubit states, where the number of families grows as the partition function of the number of qubits.

Classification of General n -Qubit States under Stochastic Local Operations and Classical Communication in Terms of the Rank of Coefficient Matrix

Xiangrong Li, Dafa Li

We solve the entanglement classification under stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) for general n-qubit states. For two arbitrary pure n-qubit states connected via local operations, we establish an equation between the two coefficient matrices associated with the states. The rank of the coefficient matrix is preserved under SLOCC and gives rise to a simple way of partitioning all the pure states of n qubits into different families of entanglement classes, as exemplified here. When applied to the symmetric states, this approach reveals that all the Dicke states |ℓ,n> with ℓ=1,…,[n/2] are inequivalent under SLOCC.

Characterizing multipartite entanglement classes via higher-dimensional embeddings

Christina Ritz, Cornelia Spee, Otfried Gühne

Abstract Witness operators are a central tool to detect entanglement or to distinguish among the different entanglement classes of multiparticle systems, which can be defined using stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC). We show a one-to-one correspondence between general SLOCC witnesses and a class of entanglement witnesses in an extended Hilbert space. This relation can be used to derive SLOCC witnesses from criteria for full separability of quantum states; moreover, given SLOCC witnesses can be viewed as entanglement witnesses. As applications of this relation we discuss the calculation of overlaps between different SLOCC classes and the SLOCC classification in -dimensional systems.

Entanglement classes of permutation-symmetric qudit states: Symmetric operations suffice

Piotr Migdał, Javier Rodríguez-Laguna, Maciej Lewenstein

We analyze entanglement classes for permutation-symmetric states for $n$ qudits (i.e., $d$-level systems), with respect to local unitary operations (LU equivalence) and stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC equivalence). In both cases, we show that the search can be restricted to operations where the same local operation acts on all qudits, and we provide an explicit construction for it. Stabilizers of states in the form of one-particle operations preserving permutation symmetry are shown to provide a coarse-grained classification of entanglement classes. We prove that the Jordan form of such one-particle operators is a SLOCC invariant. We find, as representatives of those classes, a discrete set of entangled states that generalize the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and $W$ states for the many-particle qudit case. In the latter case, we introduce the excitation state as a natural generalization of the $W$ state for $d>2$.

Stochastic local operations and classical communication equations and classification of evennqubits

Xiangrong Li, Dafa Li

For any even n qubits, we establish four stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) equations and construct four SLOCC polynomials (not complete) of degree 2 n /2 , which can be exploited for the SLOCC classification (not complete) of any even n qubits. In light of the SLOCC equations, we propose several different genuine entangled states of even n qubits and show that they are inequivalent to the | GHZ ⟩, | W ⟩, or | l , n ⟩ (the symmetric Dicke states with l excitations) under SLOCC via the vanishing or not of the polynomials. The absolute values of the polynomials can be considered as entanglement measures.

Method for classifying multiqubit states via the rank of the coefficient matrix and its application to four-qubit states

Xiangrong Li, Dafa Li

We construct coefficient matrices of size ${2}^{\ensuremath{\ell}}$ by ${2}^{n\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\ell}}$ associated with pure $n$-qubit states and prove the invariance of the ranks of the coefficient matrices under stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC). The ranks give rise to a simple way of partitioning pure $n$-qubit states into inequivalent families and distinguishing degenerate families from one another under SLOCC. Moreover, the classification scheme via the ranks of coefficient matrices can be combined with other schemes to build a more refined classification scheme. To exemplify we classify the nine families of four qubits introduced by Verstraete et al. [Phys. Rev. A 65, 052112 (2002)] further into inequivalent subfamilies via the ranks of coefficient matrices, and as a result, we find 28 genuinely entangled families and all the degenerate classes can be distinguished up to permutations of the four qubits. We also discuss the completeness of the classification of four qubits into nine families.
