Abstract

Abstract A hybrid optomechanical system which is composed of an atomic ensemble and a standard optomechanical cavity driven by a periodically modulated external laser field is investigated. Based on the simple periodic modulation forms of the driving amplitude and effective optomechanical coupling, respectively, the atom‐mirror entanglement is discussed in detail. It is found that the maximum of the entanglement in the unresolved‐sideband regime can be further enhanced compared with the non‐modulation regime. On the other hand, we find that the introduction of the atomic ensemble permits the mechanical squeezing induced by the periodic amplitude modulation can be successfully generated even in the unresolved‐sideband regime. Due to the self‐cooling mechanism constructed by the atomic ensemble, the mechanical squeezing scheme no longer requires the extra precooling technologies.

Enhancement of tripartite entanglement via periodically modulated fields with an atom-assisted optomechanical system

Jiaxin Wen, Yi Lu, Zhenghong Li +1 more

Abstract We propose a model for controlling and enhancing the entanglement between the two cavity fields and mirror with a hybrid optomechanical system consisting of Λ-type three-level 85Rb atomic ensembles driven by two externally modulated laser fields. When one (another) cavity mode is driven at the red (blue) mechanical sideband and both cavity modes are blue-detuned by the mechanical frequency to the respective atomic resonant transitions, the dynamic coupling control of the cavity field and mirror can be realized by periodically modulating the amplitudes of the two incident laser fields. Compared to the unmodulated case, the periodic modulation of the laser fields in a cavity-optomechanical system embedded with a small number of atoms has the capability to enhance the entanglement between the two cavity fields and mirror. This scheme provides a new approach to the generation and control of entanglement in cavity-optomechanical systems.

Improving Atom–Mirror Entanglement and Mechanical Squeezing in a Modulated Optomechanical System

Jin‐Liang Guo, Lele Zhai

Abstract In this paper, the macroscopic quantum entanglement and squeezing in an unresolved‐sideband atom‐optomechanical system with a modulated optical parametric amplifier (OPA) inside the cavity are studied. Increasing the parametric gain of the OPA, the quantum‐classical correspondence between the atom‐mirror entanglement and classical nonlinear dynamics can be found. The critical point where the system experiences the transition from periodic oscillation to period‐doubling motion can be characterized by the singularity of the atom–mirror entanglement. Furthermore, the dependence of the atom–mirror entanglement and mechanical squeezing on the detuning and the parametric gain of the OPA as well as the environment temperature are investigated in detail. It is found that the atom‐mirror entanglement can be enhanced and the mechanical squeezing can be generated by modulating the OPA.

Large mechanical squeezing beyond 3dB of hybrid atom-optomechanical systems in a highly unresolved sideband regime

Jian-Song Zhang, Aixi Chen

We propose a scheme for the generation of strong mechanical squeezing beyond 3dB in hybrid atom-optomechanical systems in the highly unresolved sideband (HURSB) regime where the decay rate of cavity is much larger than the frequency of the mechanical oscillator. The system is formed by two two-level atomic ensembles and an optomechanical system with cavity driven by two lasers with different amplitudes. In the HURSB regime, the squeezing of the movable mirror can not be larger than 3dB if no atomic ensemble or only one atomic ensemble is put into the optomechanical system. However, if two atomic ensembles are put into the optomechanical system, the strong mechanical squeezing beyond 3dB is achieved even in the HURSB regime. Our scheme paves the way toward the implementation of strong mechanical squeezing beyond 3dB in hybrid atom-optomechanical systems in experiments.

Mechanical Squeezing via Pump Modulation in a Double‐Cavity Optomechanical System With Optical Parametric Amplifier

Haotian Wu, Ping‐Chi Ge, Xue Yan Han +2 more

Abstract A novel and efficient method is proposed for generating mechanical squeezing in a double‐cavity optomechanical system by introducing an optical parametric amplifier (OPA) with pump modulation (PM). The combined effects of periodic amplitude modulation of the driving laser and the OPA enable mechanical squeezing in both the resolved‐sideband and unresolved‐sideband regimes, with significantly enhanced squeezing observed in the resolved‐sideband regime. The individual contributions of the OPA and PM to mechanical squeezing is systematically investigated, with results indicating that PM plays a more dominant role. Additionally, the proposed scheme demonstrates excellent robustness against environmental thermal noise. These findings highlight the potential of this approach for advancing quantum precision measurements and exploring macroscopic quantum phenomena.

Qubit-assisted squeezing of the mirror motion in a dissipative optomechanical cavity system

Cheng‐Hua Bai, Wang, Dong-Yang, Shou Zhang +1 more

We investigate a hybrid system consisting of an atomic ensemble trapped inside a dissipative optomechanical cavity assisted with the perturbative oscillator-qubit coupling. It is shown that such a hybrid system is very suitable for generating stationary squeezing of the mirror motion in the long-time limit under the unresolved sideband regime. Based on the approaches of master equation and covariance matrix, we discuss the respective squeezing effects in detail and find that in both approaches, simplifying the system dynamics with adiabatic elimination of the highly dissipative cavity mode is very effective. In the approach of master equation, we find that the squeezing is a resulting effect of cooling process and is robust against the thermal fluctuations of the mechanical mode. While in the covariance matrix approach, we can obtain the analytical result of the steady-state mechanical position variance from the reduced dynamical equation approximately. Finally, we compare the two different approaches and find that they are completely equivalent for the stationary dynamics. The scheme may be meaningful for the possible ultraprecise quantum measurement involved mechanical squeezing.
