Abstract

We study entanglement properties of generic three-qubit pure states. First, we obtain the distributions of both the coefficients and the only phase in the five-term decomposition of Acín et al. for an ensemble of random pure states generated by the Haar measure on U ( 8 ) . Furthermore, we analyze the probability distributions of two sets of polynomial invariants. One of these sets allows us to classify three-qubit pure states into four classes. Entanglement in each class is characterized using the minimal Rényi-Ingarden-Urbanik entropy. Besides, the fidelity of a three-qubit random state with the closest state in each entanglement class is investigated. We also present a characterization of these classes in terms of the corresponding entanglement polytope. The entanglement classes related to stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) are analyzed as well from this geometric perspective. The numerical findings suggest some conjectures relating some of those invariants with entanglement properties to be ground in future analytical work.

Classification of Four-Qubit States by Means of a Stochastic Local Operation and the Classical Communication Invariant

Xin-Wei Zha, Ma Gang-Long

It is a recent observation that entanglement classification for qubits is closely related to stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) invariants. Verstraete et al.[ Phys. Rev. A 65 (2002) 052112 ] showed that for pure states of four qubits there are nine different degenerate SLOCC entanglement classes. Li et al.[ Phys. Rev. A 76 (2007) 052311 ] showed that there are at feast 28 distinct true SLOCC entanglement classes for four qubits by means of the SLOCC invariant and semi-invariant. We give 16 different entanglement classes for four qubits by means of basic SLOCC invariants.

Local unitary equivalence of the SLOCC class of three qubits

Dafa Li, Yu Jing Guo

Abstract Classification of multipartite pure states via the local unitary (LU) equivalence or the stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) equivalence is a fundamental task in investigating multipartite entanglement. It is shown in the seminal paper (2000 Phys . Rev . A 62 062314) that pure states of three qubits can be partitioned into six SLOCC classes. We explore here a necessary and sufficient condition for LU equivalence of pure states for any SLOCC class via Acín et al ’s Schmidt coefficients (ASC) of three qubits in (2000 Phys. Rev. Lett. 85 1560). We show that the LU equivalent states in W SLOCC class have the same ASC irrespective of phases while there are generally two different ASCs for the LU equivalent states in GHZ SLOCC class (irrespective of phases for some subclass). Consequently, we obtain a complete LU classification of three qubit pure states in the sense of ASC. Moreover, we discuss the choice among the different ASCs and then propose an approach to find a unique ASC for any given three qubit pure state. At last we analyse the entanglement/separability of the marginal states of the two inequivalent genuine entangled SLOCC classes. We find that any bipartite marginal states of the W SLOCC class are entangled, and that of the GHZ SLOCC class has eight different cases which are depend on the ASCs.

Some Remarks on the Local Unitary Classification of Three-Qubit Pure States

S Luna-Hernández

Abstract Characterization of multipartite entanglement is in general a challenging task. The entanglement polytope is particularly useful to study three-qubit systems since it allows a qualitative analysis of the related non-local properties from a geometric perspective. In this work, using numerical approaches, we show that there exist a correspondence between some classes of entanglement and some specific regions of the polytope for three-qubit systems.

Classification and quantification of qubit and qutrit multipartite pure state entanglement

Guoying Lu, Pan Feng, (1)辽宁师范大学物理系,大连 116029; (2)辽宁师范大学物理系,大连 116029;辽宁大学物理系,沈阳 110036

Classification and quantification of bipartite qubit, tripartite qubit, and bipartite qutrit entanglement are studied in detail based on the entanglement measure of multipartite pure states. The results show that different ways of pure state entanglement can be characterized by extremal values of the corresponding entanglement measure under the stochastic local operation and classical communication(SLOCC). Detailed analysis shows that there are three different kinds of entanglement under the SLOCC in both tripartite qubit and bipartite qutrit pure state systems. Comparison of the measure with the recently proposed entropy-product measure is made and briefly discussed.

Minimal Rényi–Ingarden–Urbanik Entropy of Multipartite Quantum States

Marco Enríquez, Zbigniew Puchała, Karol Życzkowski

We study the entanglement of a pure state of a composite quantum system consisting of several subsystems with d levels each. It can be described by the Rényi–Ingarden–Urbanik entropy Sq of a decomposition of the state in a product basis, minimized over all local unitary transformations. In the case q = 0, this quantity becomes a function of the rank of the tensor representing the state, while in the limit q → ∞, the entropy becomes related to the overlap with the closest separable state and the geometric measure of entanglement. For any bipartite system, the entropy S1 coincides with the standard entanglement entropy. We analyze the distribution of the minimal entropy for random states of three- and four-qubit systems. In the former case, the distribution of the three-tangle is studied and some of its moments are evaluated, while in the latter case, we analyze the distribution of the hyperdeterminant. The behavior of the maximum overlap of a three-qudit system with the closest separable state is also investigated in the asymptotic limit.

Multipartite entanglement of random states of qubits

We investigate multipartite entanglement via the statistical properties of pure quantum states of n-qubits. By analyzing the distribution of purity among balanced bipartitions, we compare Haar-typical states, uniformly distributed on the unit sphere of states, with Hadamard states, being characterized by equal weights in the computational basis. We analyze different ensembles of Hadamard states characterized by their phase distributions. Through analytical and numerical calculations, we show that Hadamard states exhibit, on average, a higher degree of entanglement than Haar-typical states. In addition, we show that a particular class of Hadamard states, characterized by real coefficients with alternating signs, known as hypergraph states, appears especially relevant in the search for maximally multipartite entangled states, both for their structural simplicity and the increased likelihood of sampling highly entangled states. These results identify Hadamard states as a tractable yet promising class for exploring multipartite entanglement structures and advancing the characterization of maximally multipartite entangled quantum states.
