Abstract

Classification and quantification of bipartite qubit, tripartite qubit, and bipartite qutrit entanglement are studied in detail based on the entanglement measure of multipartite pure states. The results show that different ways of pure state entanglement can be characterized by extremal values of the corresponding entanglement measure under the stochastic local operation and classical communication(SLOCC). Detailed analysis shows that there are three different kinds of entanglement under the SLOCC in both tripartite qubit and bipartite qutrit pure state systems. Comparison of the measure with the recently proposed entropy-product measure is made and briefly discussed.

Classification and Quantification of Entangled Bipartite Qutrit Pure States

Feng Pan, Guoying Lu, Jerry Paul Draayer

A complete analysis of entangled bipartite qutrit pure states is carried out based on a simple entanglement measure. An analysis of all possible extremally entangled pure bipartite qutrit states is shown to reduce, with the help of SLOCC transformations, to three distinct types. The analysis and the results should be helpful for finding different entanglement types in multipartite pure state systems. [1] The interests in studying multi-dimensional entangled states come from both the foundations of quantum mechanics and the development of new protocols in quantum communication. For example, it was shown that maximally entangled states of two quantum systems in a high-dimensional Hilbert space, qudits, violate local realism stronger than qubits, and entangled qudits are less affected by noise than entangled qubits. [2,3] In quantum cryptography [4], the use of entangled qutrits [4,5] or qudits [6,7] instead of qubits is more secure against eavesdropping attacks. Furthermore, the protocols for quantum teleportation or for quantum cryptography, work best with maximally entangled states. All these facts motivate the development of techniques to generate entangled states among quantum systems in higher dimensional Hilbert space with a good quality of entanglement.

Classification of Bipartite and Tripartite Qutrit Entanglement Under SLOCC

Yang Xin-Gang, Wang Zhi-Xi, Wang Xiao-Hong +1 more

We classify biqutrit and triqutrit pure states under stochastic local operations and classical communication. By investigating the right singular vector spaces of the coefficient matrices of the states, we obtain explicitly two equivalent classes of biqutrit states and twelve equivalent classes of triqutrit states respectively.

Detection and Classification of Bipartite and Multipartite Entangled States

Anu Kumari

The detection and classification of entanglement properties in a two-qubit and a multi-qubit system is a topic of great interest. This topic has been extensively studied, and as a result, we discovered various approaches for detecting and classifying multi-qubit, in particular three-qubit entangled states. The emphasis of this work is on a formalism of methods for the detection and classification of bipartite as well as multipartite quantum systems. We have used the method of structural physical approximation of partially transposed matrix (SPA-PT) for the detection of entangled states in arbitrary dimensional bipartite quantum systems. Also, we have proposed criteria for the classification of all possible stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) inequivalent classes of a pure and mixed three-qubit state using the SPA-PT map. To quantify entanglement, we have defined a new measure of entanglement based on the method of SPA-PT, which we named as "structured negativity". We have shown that this measure can be used to quantify entanglement for negative partial transposed entangled states (NPTES). Since the methods for detection, classification and quantification of entanglement, defined in this thesis are based on SPA-PT, they may be realized in an experiment.

Classification of tripartite entanglement with one qubit

Marcio F. Cornelio, A. F. R. de Toledo Piza

We present a method to find the decompositions of tripartite entangled pure states with one qubit which are smaller than two successive Schmidt decompositions. We use this method to get a classification of the entangled states according to their decompositions. Furthermore, we also use this method to classify the entangled states that can be interconverted through stochastic local operations and classical communication. More general tripartite systems are briefly discussed.

Local unitary equivalence of the SLOCC class of three qubits

Dafa Li, Yu Jing Guo

Abstract Classification of multipartite pure states via the local unitary (LU) equivalence or the stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) equivalence is a fundamental task in investigating multipartite entanglement. It is shown in the seminal paper (2000 Phys . Rev . A 62 062314) that pure states of three qubits can be partitioned into six SLOCC classes. We explore here a necessary and sufficient condition for LU equivalence of pure states for any SLOCC class via Acín et al ’s Schmidt coefficients (ASC) of three qubits in (2000 Phys. Rev. Lett. 85 1560). We show that the LU equivalent states in W SLOCC class have the same ASC irrespective of phases while there are generally two different ASCs for the LU equivalent states in GHZ SLOCC class (irrespective of phases for some subclass). Consequently, we obtain a complete LU classification of three qubit pure states in the sense of ASC. Moreover, we discuss the choice among the different ASCs and then propose an approach to find a unique ASC for any given three qubit pure state. At last we analyse the entanglement/separability of the marginal states of the two inequivalent genuine entangled SLOCC classes. We find that any bipartite marginal states of the W SLOCC class are entangled, and that of the GHZ SLOCC class has eight different cases which are depend on the ASCs.
