Abstract

We investigate the quantum phase transitions for the [Formula: see text] spin-1/2 chains via the quantum correlations between the nearest and next-to-nearest neighbor spins characterized by negativity, information deficit, trace distance discord and local quantum uncertainty. It is shown that all these correlations exhibit the quantum phase transitions at [Formula: see text]. However, only information deficit and local quantum uncertainty can demonstrate quantum phase transitions at [Formula: see text]. The analytical and numerical behaviors of the quantum correlations for the [Formula: see text] system are presented. We also consider quantum correlations in the Hartree–Fock ground state of the Lipkin–Meshkov–Glick (LMG) model.

Classical correlation and quantum discord in critical systems

M. S. Sarandy

We discuss the behavior of quantum and classical pairwise correlations in critical systems, with the quantumness of the correlations measured by the quantum discord. We analytically derive these correlations for general real density matrices displaying ${Z}_{2}$ symmetry. As an illustration, we analyze both the $XXZ$ and the transverse field Ising models. Finite size as well as infinite chains are investigated and the quantum criticality is discussed. Moreover, we identify the spin functions that govern the correlations. As a further example, we also consider correlations in the Hartree-Fock ground state of the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model. It is then shown that both classical correlation and quantum discord exhibit signatures of the quantum phase transitions.

Quantum phase transitions in the LMG model by means of quantum information concepts

Octavio Castaños, Ramón López–Peña, Eduardo Nahmad-Achar +1 more

Quantum phase transitions are currently studied in several fields of physics, as examples one finds: in nuclear physics the shape phase transitions within the Interacting Boson Model; in quantum optics two level atoms interacting with a one mode electromagnetic radiation in a cavity; and in condensed matter in the analysis of the behavior of spin systems. In this contribution we employ the fidelity and its susceptibility, two concepts widely used in quantum information theory, to determine the quantum phase transitions of the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model together with its scaling properties. By means of these concepts, we propose a quantum method to determine the crossings and anti-crossings present in a model Hamiltonian as a function of the control parameters of the model. A review of the separatrix of the LMG model is done to compare the results obtained by means of quantum information concepts with those related with the singular behavior of the energy surface of the model, which is the expectation value of the Hamiltonian with respect to spin coherent states.

Quantum Dissonance as an Indicator of Quantum Phase Transition in the XXZ Chain

Ye-Qi Zhang, Qi-Liang He, Zheng-Da Hu +1 more

We investigate the behavior of quantum dissonance in the anti-ferromagnetic XXZ spin S = 1/2 chain, which exhibits a quantum phase transition. Based on a unified view of quantum and classical correlations, quantum dissonance is analytically calculated and is compared with entanglement, discord, and classical correlations for the ground state of the system. It is found that the nearest-neighbor quantum dissonance achieves an extremum and exhibits the sharpest change at the critical point. Therefore, quantum dissonance may serve as a more efficient indicator of quantum phase transitions in the XXZ spin chain.

Quantum correlations in collective spin systems

Chen Wang, Yuyu Zhang, Qing‐Hu Chen

Quantum and classical pairwise correlations in two typical collective spin systems (i.e., the Dicke model and the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model) are discussed. These correlations in the thermodynamical limit are obtained analytically and in a finite-size system are calculated numerically. Large-size scaling behavior for the quantum discord itself is observed, which has never been reported in another critical system. A logarithmic diverging behavior for the first derivative of the quantum discord is also found in both models, which might be universal in the second-order quantum phase transition. It is suggested that the pronounced maximum or minimum of first derivative of quantum discord signifies the critical point. Comparisons between the quantum discord and the scaled concurrence are performed. It is shown that the quantum discord is very small in one phase and robust in the other phase, while the scaled concurrence shows maximum at the critical point and decays rapidly when away from the the critical point.

Local quantum Fisher information and one-way quantum deficit in spin-1/2 XX Heisenberg chain with three-spin interaction

Biao‐Liang Ye, Bo Li, Xiao-Bin Liang +1 more

We explore quantum phase transitions in the spin-1/2 [Formula: see text] chain with three-spin interaction in terms of local quantum Fisher information and one-way quantum deficit, together with the demonstration of quantum fluctuations. Analytical results are derived and analyzed in detail.

Quantum Correlations in Spin Chains at Finite Temperatures and Quantum Phase Transitions

T. Werlang, Christian Trippe, G A P Ribeiro +1 more

We compute the quantum correlation [quantum discord (QD)] and the entanglement (EOF) between nearest-neighbor qubits (spin-1/2) in an infinite chain described by the Heisenberg model (XXZ Hamiltonian) at finite temperatures. The chain is in the thermodynamic limit and thermalized with a reservoir at temperature T (canonical ensemble). We show that QD, in contrast to EOF and other thermodynamic quantities, spotlight the critical points associated with quantum phase transitions (QPT) for this model even at finite T. This remarkable property of QD may have important implications for experimental characterization of QPTs when one is unable to reach temperatures below which a QPT can be seen.
