Pseudogap state of ultracold fermion-boson mixtures in the Bogoliubov regime

Kai Ji, Andreas Komnik

We study the dynamical response of ultracold fermion-boson mixture in the Bogoliubov regime, where the interactions between fermions and bosonic excitations (phonons) are described by an effective Frohlich model under the Bogoliubov approximation. We show that the pseudogap feature which was previously found in quantum Monte Carlo simulations and which cannot be recovered by simple approximations, can be accurately reproduced with the help of vertex corrections. Using diagrammatic technique we compute Bragg spectra as well as the momentum dependent force-force correlation function. We show that both of them are heavily affected by the pseudogap effect at low impurity densities in both 1D and 2D systems.

Dynamic formation of a supersolid phase in a mixture of ultracold bosonic and fermionic atoms

Maciej Lewkowicz, Tomasz Karpiuk, Mariusz Gajda +1 more

We numerically study the dynamical properties of a mixture consisting of a dipolar condensate and a degenerate Fermi gas in a quasi-one-dimensional geometry. In particular, we focus on the system's response to a temporal variation in the interaction strength between bosons and fermions. When the interspecies attraction becomes sufficiently strong, we observe a phase transition to a supersolid state. This conclusion is supported by the emergence of an out-of-phase Goldstone mode in the excitation spectrum.

Spectral weight suppression in response functions of ultracold fermion-boson mixtures

Kai Ji, Andreas Komnik

We study the dynamical response of ultracold fermion-boson mixtures in the Bogoliubov regime, where the interactions between fermionic impurities and bosonic excitations (phonons) are described by an effective Fr\"ohlich model under the Bogoliubov approximation. A characteristic suppression of the single-particle spectral weight is found in the small-momentum region where the impurity band and phonon mode intersect. Using a diagrammatic technique we compute the Bragg spectra as well as the momentum-dependent force-force correlation function. We find that both of them are heavily affected by the spectral weight suppression effect at low impurity densities in both one- and two-dimensional systems. We show that the spectral weight suppression feature in Bragg spectra, which was previously found in quantum Monte Carlo simulations and which cannot be recovered by the random phase approximation, can be accurately reproduced with the help of vertex corrections.
