Patent Analysis of Global Quantum Cryptography

With the rapid development of Internet based on information technology and the approach of the quantum age, countries pay more and more attention to the research of quantum cryptography and quantum communication. The quantum cryptography patent data can well reflect the pro- gress and achievement in quantum cryptography field of a country, which reveals the relevant scientific and technological strength and national defense strength of a country. This paper makes a detailed analysis of patent applications from 2000 to 2017 in four major quantum research and development regions in the world, namely the United States, the European Union, Japan and China. The analysis is carried out from three aspects of patent application time, patent application organization and patent classification number. And then the research results in quantum cryptography field of the countries above are summarized and the research trends are predicted. These provide an intuitive and detailed data support for the analysis of a country’s scientific and technological strength. Moreover, it can be an important reference for further research on developments of global quantum technology and the national quantum strategic planning.

Quantum technologies in healthcare: analysis of cases and perspectives

О. S. Kobyakova, Olga Yeremchenko, A. A. Kanev +1 more

The use of quantum technologies opens up new opportunities for the development of medicines, improving the quality of diagnostics, protection of medical information and personal data, increasing the efficiency of medical decision-making. The aim of the research was to study the prospects of development and application of quantum technologies in the field of healthcare. In order to achieve the goal, the analysis of separate clusters of quantum technologies with maximum prospects of commercial application in healthcare was performed; the patent landscape of the considered technological area was built; a review of market products for healthcare created on the basis of quantum technologies was prepared. It is shown that quantum sensors, quantum computing and quantum-resistant cybersecurity solutions have received maximum development in healthcare. The number of created technical solutions in the technological field under consideration, which received patent protection, is more than 6.5 thousand, of which 3.5 thousand are supported. As key beneficiaries of the use of quantum technologies in healthcare it is proposed to consider, first of all, pharmaceutical companies and biotechnology startups, which can reduce the time of modeling and testing of drugs, improve the accuracy of predicting side effects of drugs and drug-drug interactions through the use of quantum computing, accelerate the analysis of big data and optimize clinical trial protocols.

Quantum Technologies: A Review of the Patent Landscape

M. Edington Alex

Quantum Technologies is a term that is getting broader with every passing year. Nanotechnology and electronics operate in this realm. With the invention of industry-disrupting algorithms like Shor's algorithm that can break RSA encryption on a quantum computer and Quantum Key Distribution, which offers unconditional security in theory, investment is pouring in. Here we taxonomize and analyze 48,577 patents in this area from 2015 to present captured with a comprehensive query in Relecura's patent database. The author's subject experience, along with the company's AI-based tools and scholarly literature, were utilized to make this highly subjective choice of taxonomy. Though most Patent Landscape Analysis Reports consider a single technology, geography, or company, we have tried to give a holistic overview of these technologies as a whole due to their collaborative and intertwined nature. The physics of each technology and its role in the industry is briefly explained where possible.

BibPat: Quantum K-means Clustering with Incremental Enhancement

Shradha Deshmukh, Preeti Mulay

Background: One of the main areas of study within the broader paradigm of quantum machine learning is quantum clustering (QC). Considering the potential time and cost savings that solutions to realworld issues employing QC algorithms bring, in comparison to their classical methods, researchers have recently developed a keen interest in QC. With new algorithms and their applications being invented virtually every other day, this is still a highly young and fascinating area of research. Based on the background information provided, this work aims to analyze research and patent databases spanning twelve years (2010 to mid-2022) to identify and understand the publishing and patent trends in the field of QC. This study aims to study the topological analyses, important study areas, relationships, and collaboration patterns that distinguish traditional and developing research clusters. The graphical representation of the progress of publications and patents over time depends on such rigorous field mapping. This paper presents a comprehensive list of all the sources through the network, bibliometric and patentometric (BibPat) analysis, and future research scope in the QC. The top authors, universities, and research fields were listed after the primary and secondary keywords connected to the quantum K-means clustering algorithm in the analysis design. Reviewing the articles and then delving into the specifics of the patents will help us evaluate the total body of work on the quantum K-means clustering technique. Using the thorough BibPat tools and numerous research and patent databases like Scopus, IEEE, ACM, Google Scholar, Lens, Google Patents, and Espacenet, the analysis design displays the patents and journal papers that have been published. Additionally, it is crucial for later research because it aids in the identification of areas for current research interests and possible avenues for future study. QC offers various studies in disciplines from computer science to psychology. The Ministry of Education, China, produced most publications. Since 2014, the trend has been up, and experts continue studying the issue. The BibPat analysis shows that the Chinese National Natural Science Foundation has facilitated funding for cutting-edge research. In order to open the door for future research and investigation on the substantial amount of unstructured real-time data, the report concluded by proposing an incremental QC approach.
