Steady-State Two Atom Entanglement in a Pumped Cavity Enhanced by Nonlinear Mirrors

Abstract

We demonstrate the steady-state entanglement of two two-level atoms inside a pumped cavity with photon leakage through a nonlinear mirror and through spontaneous decay, and show that the entanglement is enhanced by the presence of a nonlinear mirror. Our model assumes the vacuum Rabi splitting of the dressed states of the system to be much larger than any of the decay parameters of the system. We also discuss how the dressed states of the system offer us intuition as to where the entanglement lies in the state space spanned by the system, and allow us the optimize the system.

Steady-state two-atom entanglement in a pumped cavity

Hideomi Nihira, Carlos R. Stroud

In this paper we explore the possibility of a steady-state entanglement of two two-level atoms inside a pumped cavity by taking into account cavity leakage and the spontaneous emission of photons by the atoms. We describe the system in the dressed state picture in which the coherence is built into the dressed states while transitions between the dressed states are incoherent. Our model assumes the vacuum Rabi splitting of the dressed states to be much larger than any of the decay parameters of the system which allows atom-field coherence to build up before any decay process takes over. We show that, under our model, a pumping field cannot entangle two closed two-level atoms inside the cavity in the steady-state, but a steady-state entanglement can be achieved with two open two-level atoms.

Two-mode entanglement of dressed parametric amplification four-wave mixing in an atomic ensemble

Zepei Li, Xiaoli Wang, Chenyu Li +4 more

Abstract We demonstrate the influence of dressed states on two-mode optical entanglement in a double Λ-type energy level atomic ensemble of parametric amplification four-wave mixing (PA-FWM) processes. By injecting a coherent or Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen field into PA-FWM channels, we investigate the corresponding entanglement. The quantum entanglement may be enhanced or suppressed via a bright state or a dark state. In free space, the two-mode entanglement is determined by nonlinear gain, which can be manipulated by field dressing in an atomic ensemble (i.e. Autler–Towns splitting, dressed enhancement/suppression of entanglement). However, in a ring cavity, the cavity dressing brings about the AT-like splitting of entanglement. Such an entanglement profile may be modified by field dressing through vacuum Rabi splitting, vacuum-induced enhancement and suppression of entanglement.

The Quantum Dynamics of Two Coupled Cavities Containing Pumped Atomic Ensembles

Sergiu Carlig, Viorel Ciornea, Corneliu Gherman +1 more

Abstract We investigate a hybrid quantum system consisting of two coupled optical cavities, each containing an ensemble of coherently pumped artificial or real two-level atoms. The system is modelled within the dressed-state formalism, accounting for coherent driving and dissipative interactions with independent electromagnetic reservoirs. Focusing on the regime where the Rabi frequency greatly exceeds the collective spontaneous emission and cavity decay rates, respectively, we derive the equations of motion characterizing the system and analyse its steady-state behaviours. Special attention is given to the scenario in which only one cavity contains a pumped multi-atom ensemble, and as a consequence, coherent excitation transfer to the second cavity occurs via cavity–cavity coupling. In this case, the mean photon number in the second cavity mode scales proportional to the squared number of atoms, i.e., N2 from the first cavity. The proposed model offers insight into light–matter interaction in composite systems and suggests viable mechanisms for engineering collective interactions and non-local excitation transport in quantum optical platforms.

Entangled light via nonlinear vacuum-multiparticle interactions

Mihai Macovei, Gao‐xiang Li

We investigate the generation of a strongly entangled electromagnetic field through laser pumping a collection of $N$ two-level atoms in a two-mode optical resonator. The vacuum-multiparticle interactions enhance the coupling of the atomic sample to the cavity modes facilitating the creation of entangled photons at higher frequencies. In the dispersive atom-cavity limit, one can obtain a steady-state output field consisting of tens of such photons per mode.

Preparation of steady-state entanglement via a laser-excited resonant interaction

Guangling Cheng, Aixi Chen, Jun Geng +2 more

In this paper we propose a scheme in which two-mode entanglement in a steady state is produced by using two lasers to resonantly drive a single four-level atom embedded inside a two-mode optical cavity. In this scheme, atomic coherence induced by a classical laser plays an important role in the process of preparing the entangled state. With the coupling of a strong control field, direct two-photon transition is generated and the relatively weak pump field induces the parametric interaction between two photons, which makes them entangle with each other. By numerical calculation, we find that the degree of entanglement depends strongly on the Rabi frequencies of the classical laser fields and the cavity losses.

Enhanced entanglement between a movable mirror and a cavity field assisted by two-level atoms

Yonghong Ma, Ling Zhou

A scheme to generate stationary entanglement in a Fabry-Perot cavity with two-level atoms is proposed in the current paper. The mechanism through which radiation pressure can generate steady-state entanglement is also presented. Moreover, the bipartite entanglement in the field-mirror subsystem is quantified. Logarithmic negativity, which characterizes the entanglement between the two systems, is found to increase from 0.27 to 0.32 with the help of the atoms. Surprisingly, such macroscopic entanglement persists for environment temperatures of about 25 K in this system.
