Preparation of steady-state entanglement via a laser-excited resonant interaction

Abstract

In this paper we propose a scheme in which two-mode entanglement in a steady state is produced by using two lasers to resonantly drive a single four-level atom embedded inside a two-mode optical cavity. In this scheme, atomic coherence induced by a classical laser plays an important role in the process of preparing the entangled state. With the coupling of a strong control field, direct two-photon transition is generated and the relatively weak pump field induces the parametric interaction between two photons, which makes them entangle with each other. By numerical calculation, we find that the degree of entanglement depends strongly on the Rabi frequencies of the classical laser fields and the cavity losses.

Continuous-variable entanglement in a two-mode four-level single-atom laser

Xin‐You Lü, Jibing Liu, Liu-Gang Si +1 more

This paper investigate the generation and evolution of continuous-variable entanglement in a two-mode single-atom laser, where the atomic coherence is induced by two classical laser fields (pump and coupling field) driving the corresponding atom transitions. It is found that the intensity of the coupling field can influence effectively the entanglement period of the cavity field. More importantly, our numerical results also show that the intensity and period of entanglement between the two cavity modes as well as the total mean photon number of the cavity field can be increased synchronously by adjusting the corresponding frequency detuning.

Engineering steady-state entanglement for two atoms held in separate cavities through laser cooling

Li-Tuo Shen, Rongxin Chen, Huai‐Zhi Wu +1 more

We propose a scheme to prepare the steady-state entanglement for two atoms, which are held in separate cavities that are coupled through a short optical fiber or optical resonator. The entangled steady-state with a high fidelity can be achieved even with a low cooperativity parameter, by making use of the driving laser fields. Such a cooling mechanism is based on a resonant laser pump of the unwanted ground states to the excited states, which finally decay to the desired steady-state.

Entanglement created by spontaneously generated coherence

Zhao-Hong Tang, Gao‐xiang Li, Z. Ficek

We propose a scheme that is able to generate on demand a steady-state entanglement between two nondegenerate cavity modes. The scheme relies on the interaction of the cavity modes with driven two- or three-level atoms, which act as a coupler to build entanglement between the modes. We show that, in the limit of a strong driving, it is crucial for the generation of entanglement between the modes to imbalance populations of the dressed states of the driven atomic transition. In the case of a three-level $V$-type atom, we find that a stationary entanglement can be created on demand by tuning the Rabi frequency of the driving field to the difference between the atomic transition frequencies. The resulting degeneracy of the energy levels, together with the spontaneously generated coherence, generate a steady-state entanglement between the cavity modes. It is shown that the condition for the maximal entanglement coincides with the collapse of the atomic system into a pure trapping state. We also show that the creation of entanglement depends strongly on the mutual polarization of the transition atomic dipole moments.

Continuous-Variable Entanglement Generation from a Four-State Atom under Raman Excitation

Ting-Ting Zha, Aixi Chen, Wen‐Xing Yang

We investigate the generation and the evolution of continuous-variable (CV) entanglement from a laser-driven four-state atom inside a doubly resonant cavity under Raman excitation. Two transitions in the four-state atom independently interact with the two cavity modes, while two other transitions are driven by coupling laser fields. By including the atomic relaxation as well as cavity losses, we show that the CV entanglement with large mean number of photons can be generated in our scheme. We also show that the intensity of the coupling laser fields can influence effectively the entanglement period of the cavity field. Different from the conventional resonant excitation scheme where zero one-photon detuning are required, it is found that the intensity and period of entanglement between the two cavity modes as well as the total mean photon number of the cavity field can be adjusted by properly modulating the frequency detuning.

Engineering steady-state entanglement via dissipation in coupled cavities

Zhao Jin, Shi‐Lei Su, Ai‐Dong Zhu +2 more

Abstract We present a scheme for the dissipative preparation of an entangled steady state between two atomic qubits separately trapped in the coupled cavities. The combination of coherent driving fields and dissipative processes will drive the system into a steady state. By choosing different frequency of classical laser field, the target steady state can be generated in different ways. In our scheme, the atomic spontaneous emission and the cavity decay can be used as a prerequisite. The numerical simulation shows that the maximally entangled state with high fidelity and purity can be produced regardless of the initial state. The fidelity is insensitive to the fluctuation of the system parameters.

Enhancement of entanglement for two-mode fields generated from four-wave mixing with the help of the auxiliary atomic transition

Gao‐xiang Li, Hua-Tang Tan, Mihai Macovei

The entanglement properties of two mode fields generated from four-wave mixing are discussed in the system of an ensemble of $V$-type three-level atoms embedded in a two-mode cavity, in which the atomic transitions from the two excited states to the ground state are driven by one strong and one relative weak laser field, respectively. The nondegenerate four-wave mixing process occurs in the strong laser-driven transition, which is also coupled by the two cavity modes. With the help of the auxiliary atomic transition driven by the weak laser field and adjusting the frequency difference of the two modes, highly squeezed and entangled light with high intensity can be generated.
