Abstract

We present a multipartite entanglement measure for $N$-qudit pure states, using the norm of the correlation tensor which occurs in the Bloch representation of the state. We compute this measure for important class of $N$-qutrit pure states, namely general GHZ states. We prove that this measure possesses almost all the properties expected of a good entanglement measure, including monotonicity. Finally, we extend this measure to $N$-qudit mixed states via convex roof construction and establish its various properties, including its monotonicity.

Experimentally accessible geometric measure for entanglement in N -qubit pure states

Ali Saif M. Hassan, Pramod S. Joag

We present a multipartite entanglement measure for $\mathit{N}$-qubit pure states, using the norm of the correlation tensor which occurs in the Bloch representation of the state. We compute this measure for several important classes of $\mathit{N}$-qubit pure states such as Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and $\mathit{W}$ states and their superpositions. We compute this measure for interesting applications like the one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet. We use this measure to follow the entanglement dynamics of Grover's algorithm. We prove that this measure possesses almost all the properties expected of a good entanglement measure, including monotonicity. Finally, we extend this measure to $\mathit{N}$-qubit mixed states via convex roof construction and establish its various properties, including its monotonicity. We also introduce a related measure which has all properties of the above measure and is also additive.

We compute this measure for an important class of $N$-qutrit pure states, namely, general GHZ states. We prove that this measure possesses all the essential and many desirable properties expected of a good entanglement measure, including monotonicity. We also discuss the feasibility of the experimental evaluation of this measure for an $N$-qutrit system.

Computing the geometric measure of entanglement of multipartite pure states by means of non-negative tensors

Shenglong Hu, Liqun Qi, Guofeng Zhang

The geometric measure of entanglement for pure states has attracted much attention. On the other hand, the spectral theory of non-negative tensors (hypermatrices) has been developed rapidly. In this paper, we show how the spectral theory of non-negative tensors can be applied to the study of the geometric measure of entanglement for pure states. For symmetric pure multipartite qubit or qutrit states an elimination method is given. For symmetric pure multipartite qudit states, a numerical algorithm with randomization is presented. We also show that a nonsymmetric pure state can be augmented to a symmetric one whose amplitudes can be encoded in a non-negative symmetric tensor, so the geometric measure of entanglement can be calculated. Several examples, such as $m\mathrm{GHZ}$ states, $W$ states, inverted $W$ states, qudits, and nonsymmetric states, are used to demonstrate the power of the proposed methods. Given a pure state, one can always find a change of basis (a unitary transformation) so that all the probability amplitudes of the pure state are non-negative under the new basis. Therefore, the methods proposed here can be applied to a very wide class of multipartite pure states.

Lower bounds for genuine multipartite entanglement and coherence measures

Yue Dai, Yuli Dong, Zhenyu Xu +3 more

Experimentally quantifying entanglement and coherence are extremely important for quantum resource theory. However, because the quantum state tomography requires exponentially growing measurements with the number of qubits, it is hard to quantify entanglement and coherence based on the full information of the experimentally realized multipartite states. Fortunately, other methods have been found to directly measure the fidelity of experimental states without quantum state tomography. Here we present a fidelity-based method to derive experimentally accessible lower bounds for measures of genuine multipartite entanglement and coherence. On the one hand, the method works for genuine multipartite entanglement measures including the convex-roof extended negativity, the concurrence, the G-concurrence, and the geometric measure for genuine multipartite entanglement. On the other hand, the method also delivers observable lower bounds for the convex roof of the $l_{1}$-norm of coherence, the geometric measure of coherence, and the coherence of formation. Furthermore, all the lower bounds are based on the fidelity between the chosen pure state and the target state, and we obtain the lower bounds of several real experimental states as examples of our results.

An Extension of Entanglement Measures for Pure States

Xian Shi, Lin Chen

Abstract To quantify the entanglement is one of the most important topics in quantum entanglement theory. An entanglement measure is built from measures for pure states. Conditions when the entanglement measure is entanglement monotone and convex are presented, as well as the interpretation of smoothed one‐shot entanglement cost. Next, a difference between the measure under the local operation and classical communication and the separability‐preserving operations is presented. Then, the relation between the convex roof extended method and the way here for the entanglement measures built from the geometric entanglement measure for pure states, as well as the concurrence for pure states in two‐qubit systems are considered. It is also shown that the measure is monogamous for system.

The geometric measure of entanglement of pure states with nonnegative amplitudes and the spectral theory of nonnegative tensors

Shenglong Hu, Liqun Qi, Guofeng Zhang

The geometric measure of entanglement for a symmetric pure state with nonnegative amplitudes has attracted much attention. On the other hand, the spectral theory of nonnegative tensors (hypermatrices) has been developed rapidly. In this paper, we show how the spectral theory of nonnegative tensors can be applied to the study of the geometric measure of entanglement for a pure state with nonnegative amplitudes. Especially, an elimination method for computing the geometric measure of entanglement for symmetric pure multipartite qubit or qutrit states with nonnegative amplitudes is given. For symmetric pure multipartite qudit states with nonnegative amplitudes, a numerical algorithm with randomization is presented and proven to be convergent. We show that for the geometric measure of entanglement for pure states with nonnegative amplitudes, the nonsymmetric ones can be converted to the symmetric ones.
