Quantum entanglement of space domains occupied by interacting electrons

Abstract

Abstract Spin‐entanglement of two electrons occupying two spatial regions – domains – is expressed in a compact form in terms of spin‐spin correlation functions. The power of the formalism is demonstrated on several examples ranging fromgeneration of entanglement by scattering of two electrons to the entanglement of a pair of qubits represented by a double quantum dot coupled to leads. In the latter case the collapse of entanglement due to the Kondo effect is analyzed (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

Spin–orbital entanglement near quantum phase transitions

Andrzej M. Oleś, Peter Horsch, Giniyat Khaliullin

Abstract Spin–orbital entanglement in the ground state of a one‐dimensional SU(2) ⊗ SU(2) spin–orbital model is analyzed using exact diagonalization of finite chains. For S = 1/2 spins and T = 1/2 pseudospins one finds that the quantum entanglement is similar at the SU(4) symmetry point and in the spin–orbital valence bond state. We also show that quantum transitions in spin–orbital models turn out to be continuous under certain circumstances, in constrast to the discontinuous transitions in spin models with SU(2) symmetry. Spin qubits in double quantum dots: Entanglement versus the Kondo effect

A. Ramšak, Jernej Mravlje, Rok Žitko +1 more

We investigate the competition between pair entanglement of two spin qubits in double quantum dots attached to leads with various topologies and the separate entanglement of each spin with nearby electrodes. Universal behavior of entanglement is demonstrated in dependence on the mutual interactions between the spin qubits, the coupling to their environment, temperature, and magnetic field. As a consequence of quantum phase transition an abrupt switch between fully entangled and unentangled states takes place when the dots are coupled in parallel.

Pauli blockade transport in the cotunneling regime through a double quantum dot

Hongwu Liu, T. Fujisawa, T. Hayashi +1 more

Abstract Pauli spin blockade in the cotunneling transport through an effective two‐electron double quantum dot (™10 electrons in each dot) has been presented. In the cotunneling regime where the two‐electron (1,1) and (0,2) states (ordered pairs denote the effective electron numbers in each dot) are far below the Fermi energy of the leads, we can concentrate on the two‐electron tunnelling transitions and detect singlet‐triplet splitting arising from the exchange interaction between the two electron spins with improved resolution. We discuss the cotunneling transport by considering the coherent and incoherent coupling between the dots in connection with the singlet‐triplet splitting. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Quantum Control and Entanglement of Two Electrons in a Double Quantum Dot Structure

John Boviatsis, Evangelos Voutsinas, Theodore E. Simos +1 more

The interaction of two electrons in a double quantum dot structure with an electromagnetic field is studied. Using proper approximations we obtain analytical solutions for the time evolution of the probabilities in the several quantum states and present conditions for the creation of maximally entangled two‐electron states.

Pure dephasing of two charge qubits in coupled quantum dots

W. Ben Chouikha, S. Jaziri, R. Bennaceur

Abstract We study the pure dephasing of two electrons confined in vertically coupled quantum dots, in which the presence of one electron confined in the double dot represents one qubit. We numerically evaluated the dephasing rates due to electrons coupling to both acoustic and optical phonons. Our numerically results show that the pure dephasing rates dependent on the separation between dots and the strength of electrons confinement. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

Entanglement of two-electron spin states in a double quantum dot

Vladislav G. Bagrov, Dmitri M Gitman, Aleksandr D. Levin +1 more

Recently, an implementation of a universal set of one- and two-quantum-bit gates for quantum computation using spin states of coupled single-electron quantum dots was proposed. It was demonstrated that it is possible to execute a coherent control of a quantum system based on two-electron spin states in a double quantum dot, allowing state preparation, coherent manipulation, and projective readout. This possibility is based on rapid electrical control of the spin exchange interaction. These results motivated us to develop a formal theoretical study of the corresponding model of two coupled spins placed in a magnetic field and subjected to a time-dependent mutual Heisenberg interaction. Using possible exact solutions of the corresponding quantum problem, we study entangling of different separable initial states in this model. It is demonstrated that the entanglement due to a time-dependent Heisenberg interaction is dominating in comparison with the entanglement due to the action of an external magnetic field.
