Remote Generation of Entanglement for Individual Atoms via Optical Fibres

Abstract

The generation of atomic entanglement is discussed in a system that atoms are trapped in separate cavities which are connected via optical fibres. Two distant atoms can be projected to Bell-state by synchronized turning off of the local laser fields and then performing a single quantum measurement by a distant controller. The distinct advantage of this scheme is that it works in a regime where Δ ≈ κ ≫ g, which makes the scheme insensitive to cavity strong leakage. Moreover, the fidelity is not affected by atomic spontaneous emission.

Generation of entanglement between two spatially separated atoms via dispersive atom–field interaction

Xin‐You Lü, Liu-Gang Si, Meng Wang +2 more

Based on the dispersive atom–field interaction, a scheme is proposed for deterministically generating entanglement between two Λ-type atoms, which are trapped individually in two spatially separated cavities coupled by an optical fibre. In the present scheme, it is found that the atomic spontaneous decay and photon leakage out of the fibre can be efficiently suppressed via choosing appropriately the frequency detuning of atom–field and the coupling intensity of cavity–fibre, respectively. The influence of photon leakage out of the cavities is also discussed, and the strictly numerical simulation shows that our proposal is good enough to demonstrate the generation of entanglement between two distant atoms with high fidelity.

Generation of W n state with three atoms trapped in two remote cavities coupled by an optical fibre

Yan‐Ling Li, Mao-Fa Fang

We propose two schemes for the generation of the Wn state with three atoms separately trapped in two distant cavities coupled by an optical fibre. One is implemented by controlling the interaction time, the other is implemented via the adiabatic passage. The influence of various decoherence processes, such as spontaneous emission of the atoms and photon leakages of the cavities and the optical fibre, on the fidelity is also investigated. It is found that the Wn state can be generated with high fidelity even when these decoherence processes are present.

Generation of entanglement in the atom—cavity—fibre system via adiabatic passage

Yan‐Ling Li, Mao-Fa Fang

A scheme, based on the system composed of three atoms separately trapped in three cavities coupled by optical fibres, for entangling two distant atoms via the adiabatic passage is proposed. It is found that the multi-particle W entangled state can also be generated. Moreover, the quantum information sharing can be implemented using this system. These results may be helpful for the implementation of quantum network and useful in quantum cryptography. This scheme is also convenient for operating since only the laser fields applied to the atoms need to be adjusted to accomplish the processes.

Quantum logic operations on two distant atoms trapped in two optical-fibre-connected cavities

Based on the coupling of two distant three-level atoms in two separate optical cavities connected with two optical fibres, schemes on the generation of several two-qubit logic gates are discussed under the conditions of Δ = δ − 2νcos π k /2 ≫ g /2 and ν ∼ g . Discussion and analysis of the fidelity, gate time and experimental setups show that our schemes are feasible with current optical cavity, atomic trap and optical fibre techniques. Moreover, the atom—cavity—fibre coupling can be used to generate an N -qubit nonlocal entanglement and transfer quantum information among N distant atoms by arranging N atom—cavity assemblages in a line and connecting each two adjacent cavities with two optical fibres.

Quantum communication and entanglement between two distant atoms via vacuum fields

Zheng Shi-Biao

This paper proposes an efficient scheme for quantum communication between two atoms trapped in distant cavities which are connected by an optical fibre. During the operation, all the atomic system, the cavity modes and the fibre are not excited. The quantum state is mediated by the vacuum fields. The idea can be used to realize quantum entanglement between two distant atoms via vacuum.

Deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement for two atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities

Sai-Yun Ye, Zhi‐Rong Zhong, Shi‐Biao Zheng

A scheme is proposed for the deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement of two distant atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities connected by an optical fiber. Employing adiabatic passage along dark states, the atoms are always in ground states, in particular, the fiber mode remains in the vacuum state due to the quantum destructive interference, and the population of the cavities being excited can be negligible under certain conditions. In this sense, our scheme constructs an effective way to avoid the atomic spontaneous emission and the decays of fiber and cavities.
