Measurable entanglement for tripartite quantum pure states of qubits

Abstract

We show that for tripartite quantum pure states of qubits, all the kinds of entanglement in terms of stochastic local operations and classical communications classification are experimentally measurable by simple projective measurements, provided that four copies of the composite quantum system are available. In particular, the entanglement of reduced density matrices, even though they are mixed states, can be exactly determined in experiment. Concurrence of assistance is also shown to be measurable by introducing an interesting equation with explicit physical meanings.

Measurable concurrence of mixed states

Chang‐shui Yu, Changchun Li, He‐Shan Song

We show that bipartite concurrence for rank-2 mixed states of qubits is written by an observable which can be exactly and directly measurable in experiment by local projective measurements, provided that four copies of the composite quantum system are available. In addition, for a tripartite quantum pure state of qubits, the 3-tangle is also shown to be measurable only by projective measurements on the reduced density matrices of a pair of qubits conditioned on four copies of the state.

Classification and quantification of qubit and qutrit multipartite pure state entanglement

Classification and quantification of bipartite qubit, tripartite qubit, and bipartite qutrit entanglement are studied in detail based on the entanglement measure of multipartite pure states. The results show that different ways of pure state entanglement can be characterized by extremal values of the corresponding entanglement measure under the stochastic local operation and classical communication(SLOCC). Detailed analysis shows that there are three different kinds of entanglement under the SLOCC in both tripartite qubit and bipartite qutrit pure state systems. Comparison of the measure with the recently proposed entropy-product measure is made and briefly discussed.

Experimental classification of entanglement in arbitrary three-qubit pure states on an NMR quantum information processor

Amandeep Singh, Harpreet Singh, Kavita Dorai +1 more

We undertake experimental detection of the entanglement present in arbitrary three-qubit pure quantum states on an NMR quantum information processor. Measurements of only four observables suffice to experimentally differentiate between the six classes of states which are inequivalent under stochastic local operation and classical communication. The experimental realization is achieved by mapping the desired observables onto Pauli $z$ operators of a single qubit, which is directly amenable to measurement. The detection scheme is applied to known entangled states as well as to states randomly generated using a generic scheme that can construct all possible three-qubit states. The results are substantiated via direct full quantum state tomography as well as via negativity calculations and the comparison suggests that the protocol is indeed successful in detecting tripartite entanglement without requiring any a priori information about the states.

Classification and measure of entanglement in three-qubit systems

Carlos Sabín, Guillermo García Alcaine

We present a classification of three-qubit states based in their three-qubit and reduced two-qubit entanglements. For pure states these criteria can be easily implemented, and the different types can be related with sets of equivalence classes under Local Unitary operations. For mixed states characterization of full tripartite entanglement is not yet solved in general; some partial results will be presented here. I.

Classification of Four-Qubit States by Means of a Stochastic Local Operation and the Classical Communication Invariant

Xin-Wei Zha, Ma Gang-Long

It is a recent observation that entanglement classification for qubits is closely related to stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) invariants. Verstraete et al.[ Phys. Rev. A 65 (2002) 052112 ] showed that for pure states of four qubits there are nine different degenerate SLOCC entanglement classes. Li et al.[ Phys. Rev. A 76 (2007) 052311 ] showed that there are at feast 28 distinct true SLOCC entanglement classes for four qubits by means of the SLOCC invariant and semi-invariant. We give 16 different entanglement classes for four qubits by means of basic SLOCC invariants.

Classification of tripartite entanglement with one qubit

Marcio F. Cornelio, A. F. R. de Toledo Piza

We present a method to find the decompositions of tripartite entangled pure states with one qubit which are smaller than two successive Schmidt decompositions. We use this method to get a classification of the entangled states according to their decompositions. Furthermore, we also use this method to classify the entangled states that can be interconverted through stochastic local operations and classical communication. More general tripartite systems are briefly discussed.
