Abstract

Making use of an universal quantum network or QCPU proposed by me [6], some special quantum networks for simulating some quantum systems are given out. Specially, it is obtained that the quantum network for the time evolution operator which can simulate, in general, Schrödinger equation.

Construction of a Scalable, Uniform and Universal Quantum Network and Its Applications

An Min Wang

We present a possible candidate of construction of a scalable, uniform and universal quantum network, which is built from quantum gates to elements of quantum circuit, again to quantum subnetworks and finally to an entire quantum network. Our scheme can overcome some difficulties of the existing schemes and makes improvements to different extent in the scale of quantum network, ability of computation, implementation of engineering, efficiency of quantum network, universality, compatibility, design principle, programmability, fault tolerance, error control, industrialization and commercialization {\it et. al} aspects. As the applications of this construction scheme, we obtain the entire quantum networks for Shor's algorithm, Grover's algorithm and solving Schrödinger equation in general. This implies that the scalable, uniform and universal quantum networks are able to generally describe the known main results and can be further applied to more interesting examples in quantum computations.

A Quantum Algorithm for Molecular Dynamics Simulation

Yale Fan

Quantum computers could potentially simulate the dynamics of systems such as polyatomic molecules on a much larger scale than classical computers. One of the central unresolved problems in developing quantum simulation algorithms has been constructing the necessary time evolution operators in enough detail for implementation in a quantum computer. This work presents a complete and very general solution to this problem: namely, a quantum computational algorithm for simulating an arbitrary Coulombic many-body system acting under the three-dimensional Schrödinger equation. We use the simplest discretized model and discuss detailed constructions of the operators involved. The algorithm is also implemented in MAT-LAB and tested against both analytical solutions and classical methods. Our algorithm can determine an arbitrary system’s dynamics rather than merely associated constants, as investigated in previous literature. It can hence be adapted for electronic structure calculations, chemical reaction simulations, etc. 1

Based on a scalable and universal quantum network, quantum central processing unit, proposed in our previous paper [Chin. Phys. Lett. 18 (2001) 166], the whole quantum network for the known quantum algorithms, including quantum Fourier transformation, Shor's algorithm and Grover's algorithm, is obtained in a unified way.

Teorie elektron-fononové interakce v modelovém otevřeném kvantovém systému

Jindřich Krčmář

The aim of this work is to investigate projection operator method of deriva- tion of equations of motion for reduced density matrix and apply it to a model open quantum system. We gradually pass from quantum mechanical model of a molecule with one vibrational degree of freedom to an example of open quantum system relevant in the theory of nonlinear spectroscopy. In the thesis we present results of numerical simulations of the time evolution of the open quantum system performed with a program written for this purpose. We are specially concerned with simulations of the solution of the time-convolutionless generalized master equation up to the a second order of the perturbation expan- sion, and we show that under certain conditions it provides an exact solution of the problem. The text also contains derivation of the recurrence relations for the Franck-Condon factors for the most general case of two quantum harmonic oscillators in one space dimension, i. e. transformation matrix between two bases of the L2 (R) space determined by the solutions of the time-independent Schrödinger equation appropriate for these oscillators. 1

A Universal Quantum Network-Quantum Central Processing Unit

Wang An-Min

A new construction scheme of a universal quantum network which is compatible with the known quantum gate-assembly schemes is proposed. Our quantum network is standard, easy-assemble, reusable, scalable and even potentially programmable. Moreover, we can construct a whole quantum network to implement the general quantum algorithm and quantum simulation procedure. In the above senses, it is a realization of the quantum central processing unit.

Propagator of the general driven time-dependent oscillator

Chi‐Fai Lo

In this paper we generalize Wang's approach [J. Phys. A 20, 5041 (1987)] and investigate the algebraic structure of the Schr\"odinger equation associated with a general driven time-dependent oscillator. Using the Lie-algebraic technique we obtain an exact form of the time-evolution operator which, in turn, enables us to derive the propagator of the system readily. Since the propagator is for the most general time-dependent oscillator, results for any special case can be easily deduced from it. These results will be useful for future studies in quantum optics as well as in atomic and molecular physics.
