Abstract

This paper proposes a deterministic quantum key distribution scheme based on Gaussian-modulated continuous variable EPR correlations. This scheme can implement fast and efficient key distribution. The security is guaranteed by continuous variable EPR entanglement correlations produced by nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier. For general beam splitter eavesdropping strategy, the secret information rate Δ I = I (α,β)− I (α, ) is calculated in view of Shannon information theory. Finally the security analysis is presented.

Security analysis of continuous-variable quantum key distribution scheme

Zhu Jun, Guangqiang He, Zeng Gui-Hua

In this paper security of the quantum key distribution scheme using correlations of continuous variable Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) pairs is investigated. A new approach for calculating the secret information rate Δ I is proposed by using the Shannon information theory. Employing an available parameter F which is associated with the entanglement of the EPR pairs, one can detect easily the eavesdropping. Results show that the proposed scheme is secure against individual beam splitter attack strategy with a proper squeeze parameter.

Quantum secure communication using continuous variable Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlations

Guangqiang He, Jun Ping Zhu, Guihua Zeng

A quantum secure communication protocol using correlations of continuous variable Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) pairs is proposed. The proposed protocol may implement both quantum key distribution and quantum message encryption by using a nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier (NOPA). The general Gaussian-cloner attack strategy is investigated in detail by employing Shannon information theory. Results show that the proposed scheme is secure, which is guaranteed physically by the correlations of the continuous variable EPR entanglement pairs generated by the NOPA.

Quantum key distribution for continuous variable by means of phase-sensitive nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier

Ji-Guo Zhang, C. D Xie, K. C. Peng

A new protocol realizing quantum key distribution for continuous variables is proposed, in which the bright entangled EPR beams are produced from a phase-sensitive nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier. Based on randomly changing the operating states of NOPA at the sending station and randomly choosing the phase difference between two modes of EPR beams at the receiving station, the secret key string is established. The application of direct detection system of photocurrents makes the proposed scheme relatively easier to be experimentally demonstrated.

Generation of Gaussian-modulated entangled states for continuous variable quantum communication

Ning Wang, Shanna Du, Wenyuan Liu +2 more

We present and demonstrate a high-efficiency and compact scheme for generating Gaussian-modulated Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) entangled optical fields by injecting a modulated signal field into a non-degenerate optical parametric amplifier (NOPA). We perform a quantum analysis of the scheme and derive the variance of the output signal (idler) mode and the quantum entanglement between the signal and idler modes from the NOPA. An experimental study is presented with different Gaussian modulation depths, showing that the modulation of the injected signal field successfully enlarges the distribution of the field quadratures of the EPR source in phase space and has a negligible effect on the entanglement quality. The experimental observations have good agreement with the theoretical analysis. Our scheme can be used readily in continuous variable quantum key distribution protocol.
