Abstract

We derive a master equation describing the collective decay of two-level atoms inside a single mode cavity in the dispersive limit. By considering atomic decay in the collective thermostat, we found a decoherence-free subspace of the multiparticle entangled states of the $W$-like class. We present a scheme for writing and storing these states in collective thermostat.

Relaxation and storage of multiparticle entangled states of atoms in a collective thermostat

Ashat M. Basharov, В. Н. Горбачев, A. A. Rodichkina

Multiparticle entangled states that are the generalization of the W class states and can be reduced to Dicke states are considered. The master equation describing the collective decay of atoms in a cavity is derived for the Tavis-Cummings model in the dispersive limit. The entangled states of atoms that are retained in the process of collective decay are found. The scheme for recording and storage of these states in a collective thermostat is presented.

On relaxation of entangled states in a collective thermostat

Ashat M. Basharov, В. Н. Горбачев

A kinetic equation describing collective relaxation process in the dispersion limit is derived for an ensemble of two-level atoms placed in a cavity and interacting with one cavity mode. Multiatom entangled states belonging to the set of Dicke states and insensitive to collective decay are found. A scheme for recording, storing, and reading these states with participation of spatially multimode light is reported.

Relaxation in an entangled thermostat

В. Н. Горбачев, Andrew I. Trubilko

A generalized Lindblad equation is derived that describes the relaxation of two systems of an arbitrary physical nature in an entangled thermostat. The relaxation of an atom and a mode of the electromagnetic field selected by a high- Q cavity is considered as an example. Using the introduced collective operators for an atom and a mode, it is shown that the entangled state of the thermostat can lead to the coherent and squeezed state of the atom and the mode.

Preparation of decoherence-free, subradiant states in a cavity

Péter Földi, M. G. Benedict, Attila Czirják

The cause of decoherence in a quantum system can be traced back to the interaction with the environment. As it has been pointed out by Dicke, in a system of N two-level atoms, where each of the atoms is individually dipole coupled to the environment, there are collective, subradiant states, that have no dipole coupling to photon modes, and therefore, they are expected to decay slower. This property also implies that these type of states decohere slower. We propose a scheme which will create such states. First, the two-level atoms are placed in a strongly detuned cavity and one of the atoms, called the control atom is excited. The time evolution of the coupled atom-cavity system leads to an appropriately entangled state of the atoms. By the aid of a suitable single-atom phase transformation, it is possible to drive the atomic state into the subradiant, i.e., decoherence-free subspace. Up to a certain average number of photons, the result is independent of the state of the cavity. The analysis of the conditions shows that this scheme is feasible with present day techniques achieved in atom-cavity interaction experiments.

Scheme for the preparation of multiparticle entanglement in cavity QED

Guo‐Ping Guo, Chuan‐Feng Li, Jian Li +1 more

Here we present a quantum electrodynamics model involving a large-detuned single-mode cavity field and n identical two-level atoms. One of its applications for the generation of multiparticle entangled states of various kinds (Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states and different class of so-called W states) is analyzed. The theoretical prediction for the model of $n=2$ is made that is consistent with the experimental result by considering the possible three-atom collisions.

On the entanglement of electronic states of impurity atoms in nanoparticles

Askhat M Basharov, В. Н. Горбачев, Nikolay V Znamenskiy

By using the derived master equations, it is shown that the decay of electronic impurities in a nanocrystal can be described as a collective relaxation of particles. A set of entangled states of impurity atoms is found, which have immunity to this relaxation. These states can be used for decoherence-free quantum processing.
