Abstract

We propose a scheme to implement quantum controlled SWAP gates by directing single-photon pulses to a two-sided cavity with a single trapped atom. The resultant gates can be used to realize quantum fingerprinting and universal photonic quantum computation. We present a theoretical model for our scheme and analyze its performance under practical noise, including spontaneous emission and randomness of atom-cavity coupling strength. It is shown that our scheme should be robust against practical imperfections in current cavity QED experiment setup.

Scalable Photonic Quantum Computation through Cavity-Assisted Interactions

Luming Duan, Harry J. Kimble

We propose a scheme for scalable photonic quantum computation based on cavity-assisted interaction between single-photon pulses. The prototypical quantum controlled phase-flip gate between the single-photon pulses is achieved by successively reflecting them from an optical cavity with a single-trapped atom. Our proposed protocol is shown to be robust to practical noise and experimental imperfections in current cavity-QED setups.

A scheme for quantum logic gate based on coherent-state qubits in cavity QED system

Shi-Qing Tang, Shunlong Luo, Jiayi Xu

A two-qubit quantum swap gate scheme based on coherent state qubit is proposed in cavity quantum electrodynamics system. Our scheme adopt the interaction between the Λ-type atomic ensemble and the two-mode optical cavity, and the swap gate can be realized directly only one step, so as to save a lot of quantum resources and reduce the number of single qubit rotation operations in the actual quantum information processing. It is found that under the condition of large detuning limit, the excited states of atoms are adiabatically eliminated, and the decoherence caused by the spontaneous emission of atoms is effectively suppressed. All atoms in the optical cavity are universally addressed, which reduces the experimental operation difficulty of the scheme. The fidelity of the quantum logic gate is maintained at a very high level when the photon loss of the cavity field is considered. Compared with the single-atom scheme, it is found that the atom-cavity interaction time required by the atomic ensemble scheme is inversely proportional to the number of atoms, so that the speed of the quantum logic gate can be increased by N times. Therefore, in principle, as long as enough atoms interacting with the optical field, an effective coupling of any atom-cavity field can be generated, which is conducive to selecting the appropriate quantum gate operation time in practical operation and effectively avoiding decoherence.

Feasible schemes for quantum swap gates of optical qubits via cavity QED

Deng-Yu Zhang, Shi-Qing Tang, Xin-Wen Wang +2 more

Feasible schemes for implementing quantum swap gates of both coherent-state qubits and photonic qubits are proposed using a Λ-type atomic ensemble trapped in a bimodal optical cavity. In both protocols, the decoherence from atomic spontaneous emission is negligible due to the fact that the excited states of the atoms are adiabatically eliminated under large detuning condition and the swap gates can be created in a single step. In our schemes, the required atoms—cavity interaction time decreases with the increase of the number of atoms, which is very important in view of decoherence. The experimental feasibilities of the schemes are also discussed.

Swap gate and controlled swap gate based on a single resonant interaction with cavity quantum electrodynamics

Xiao‐Qiang Shao, Li Chen, Shou Zhang +1 more

A scheme for implementing a swap gate is proposed with atoms sent through a microwave cavity. This scheme can be directly generalized to realize the controlled swap gate through appropriate changes of the coupling constants between the atoms and cavity. Moreover, an N -qubit controlled swap gate can be achieved without changing the gating time as the number of qubits increases.

REALIZATION OF NONLOCAL QUANTUM GATE THROUGH ASSISTED-CAVITIES

Wei Xiong, Tao Wu, Ye Liu

We propose a scheme for implementing a three-qubit controlled-Not-Not (CNNOT) gate and a two-qubit SWAP gate between atoms and single-photon pulse through cavity QED. In the scheme, we can one-step realize multiple-qubit GHZ state and two-qubit Bell state by applying multiple-qubits CNNOT gate. We have also shown that our scheme would be robust against practical imperfections in current cavity QED experiment setup through simple numerical estimates. Finally, we provide the current parameters to show that our scheme is feasible.

One-step implementation of a multiqubit controlled-phase-flip gate

Xiu‐Min Lin, Zheng-Wei Zhou, Ming-Yong Ye +2 more

We propose a scheme for implementing quantum computation with $N$ atoms trapped in a single-sided cavity. In our scheme, a multiqubit controlled-phase-flip (MCPF) gate as well as a quantum controlled phase flip gate is performed by only one step. The numerical simulations show that the protocol is robust to practical noise. In addition, the scheme can also be extended to achieve other multiqubit controlled unitary gates, and implement MCPF gate on atoms trapped in different cavities.
