Squeezing and higher-order squeezing of photon-added coherent states propagating in a Kerr-like medium

Abstract

We investigate the squeezing and higher-order squeezing properties of photon-added coherent states propagating through a Kerr-like medium, particularly close to instants of revivals and fractional revivals of the state. The Wigner functions at these instants are obtained, and the extent of non-classicality quantified.

Phase Properties of Photon-Added Coherent States for Nonharmonic Oscillators in a Nonlinear Kerr Medium

Farshid Jahanbakhsh, Gholamreza Honarasa

Abstract The potential of nonharmonic systems has several applications in the field of quantum physics. The photon-added coherent states for annharmonic oscillators in a nonlinear Kerr medium can be used to describe some quantum systems. In this paper, the phase properties of these states including number-phase Wigner distribution function, Pegg-Barnett phase distribution function, number-phase squeezing and number-phase entropic uncertainty relations are investigated. It is found that these states can be considered as the nonclassical states.

Wave packet dynamics of photon-added coherent states

C. Sudheesh, S. Lakshmibala, V. Balakrishnan

We show in the framework of a tractable model that revivals and fractional revivals of wave packets afford clear signatures of the extent of departure from coherence and from Poisson statistics of an initial state of the radiation field propagating in a nonlinear medium. We establish this by considering a generic Hamiltonian which models wave packet propagation in a Kerr-like medium, and comparing the non-classical effects displayed by an initial photon-added coherent state with that of an inital ideal coherent state.

Nonclassicalities of hybrid coherent states

Yusuf Turek, Nuerbiya Aishan, Akbar Islam

Abstract We address the non-classicality of hybrid coherent (HC) states, i.e. states expressed as a superposition of coherent state and single-photon-added coherent (SPAC) state. In particular, we evaluate their photon statistics, squeezing, and negativity of the Wigner function. Our results indicated that the HC states could exhibit larger non-classicalities than the SPAC state. We also suggest a generation scheme for HC states, which involves Kerr nonlinearity and postselection.

Non-classical effects in wave packet dynamics

C. Sudheesh

Treating the ideal coherent state as a reference state, the effects due to departure from coherence of an initial wave packet propagating through a nonlinear medium, were examined, specifically in the context of non-classical effects such as revivals, fractional revivals, squeezing and higher-order squeezing during its temporal evolution. Further, these studies were extended to examine the role of quantum entanglement in bipartite systems. The dynamics of quantum expectation values were tracked carefully in various cases and the conditions under which a wave packet spreads chaotically, were investigated.

Noncommutative q -photon-added coherent states

Sanjib Dey, Véronique Hussin

We construct the photon-added coherent states of a noncommutative harmonic oscillator associated to a $q$-deformed oscillator algebra. Various nonclassical properties of the corresponding system are explored, first, by studying two different types of higher-order quadrature squeezing, namely, the Hillery type and the Hong-Mandel type, and second, by testing the sub-Poissonian nature of photon statistics in higher order with the help of the correlation function and the Mandel parameter. Also, we compare the behavior of different types of quadrature and photon number squeezing of our system with those of the ordinary harmonic oscillator by considering the same set of parameters.

Wigner Functions of Photon-added and-subtracted Squeezed Vacuum States and Their Non-classical Properties

Hou Bang-pin

Based on the expressions of Wigner functions in Fock-spaces,we reconstruct the Wigner functions of photon-added and-subtracted states of squeezed vacuum states.Negativities of these Wigner functions numerically indicate that these states are really non-classical quantum states. We also discuss how these negativities depend on the photon number k added to and subtraced from the squeezed vacuum states. The negativities are greater when k is odd numbers than those when k is even numbers. The result provides a theoretical foundation for measuring these states.
