Abstract

A scheme of three-particle entanglement purification is presented in this work. The physical system undertaken for investigation is dot-like single quantum well excitons independently coupled through a single microcavity mode. The theoretical framework for the proposed scheme is based on the quantum jump approach for analyzing the progress of the trible-exciton entanglement as a series of conditional measurement has been taken on the cavity field state. We first investigate how cavity photon affects the purity of the double-exciton state and the purification efficiency in two-particle protocol. Then we extend the two-particle case and conclude that the three-exciton state can be purified into W state, which involves the one-photon-trapping phenomenon, with a high yield. Finally, an achievable setup for purification using only modest and presently feasible technologies is also proposed.

Entanglement Purification Through Cavity Input-Output Process

Xiaolong Zhang, Feng Mang, Gao Ke-Lin

We propose a scheme to purify entanglement of two atoms from not-too-impure entangled states by checking the parity of the two atoms through the cavity input-output process. As the parity check is made by measurement on single-photon polarization, which would not affect the entanglement of the two atoms, our scheme has the successful probability double of that in a previous well-known scheme with linear optical elements [Nature (London) 410 (2001) 1067], and is insensitive to the photon loss and the detection inefficiency. Experimental feasibility of our scheme with current technology is discussed.

Exciton entanglement in coupled quantum dots in a microcavity

Chun-Hua Yuan, Ka‐Di Zhu, Xiao-Zhong Yuan

We propose a scheme that allows generation of the Bell and $W$-type entangled states of excitons in quantum dots confined in a single-mode microcavity. It is shown that the entanglement of excitons can be generated when the photons leaking out of the cavity are detected by photon counter. The effect of environmental temperature on the entanglement of excitonic states is also studied.

Entanglement purification and concentration of electron-spin entangled states using quantum-dot spins in optical microcavities

Chuan Xi Wang, Yong Zhang, Guang-Sheng Jin

We present an entanglement purification protocol and an entanglement concentration protocol for electron-spin entangled states, resorting to quantum-dot spin and optical-microcavity-coupled systems. The parity-check gates (PCGs) constructed by the cavity-spin-coupling system provide a different method for the entanglement purification of electron-spin entangled states. This protocol can efficiently purify an electron ensemble in a mixed entangled state. The PCGs can also concentrate electron-spin pairs in less-entangled pure states efficiently. The proposed methods are more flexible as only single-photon detection and single-electron detection are needed.

Two-photon lasing by a single quantum dot in a high- Q microcavity

Elena del Valle, Stefano Zippilli, Fabrice P. Laussy +3 more

We investigate theoretically two-photon processes in a microcavity containing one quantum dot in the strong-coupling regime. The cavity mode can be tuned to resonantly drive the two-photon transition between the ground and the biexciton states while the exciton states are far-off resonance due to the biexciton binding energy. We study the steady state of the quantum dot and cavity field in presence of a continuous incoherent pumping. We identify the regime where the system acts as two-photon emitter and discuss the feasibility and performance of realistic single quantum-dot devices for two-photon lasing.

Entanglement purification in cavity QED using local operations

José Luis Romero, Luis Roa, J. C. Retamal +1 more

We study a physical implementation of an entanglement purification protocol using a cavity quantum electrodynamics based proposal, in both the microwave and the optical domain. The protocol consists of local quantum operations of each particle of an entangled system with one auxiliary particle (ancilla). After the above interaction a measurement on ancillas is carried out. In the microwave region the quantum information is stored in field states inside two distant cavities. We also give a procedure for quantifying the degree of entanglement between quantum fields, which allows verifying the efficiency of the purification process. In the optical domain, we study a setup of cold trapped ions inside cavities, where quantum bits are defined by two electronic levels of ions. This latter proposal is extended to create multiparticle entangled states among distant quantum systems. Entanglement is achieved through a set of local measurements on pairs of entangled particles.
