Abstract

A scheme for nonconditional generation of long-living maximally entangled states between two spatially well separated atoms is proposed. In the scheme, $\ensuremath{\Lambda}$-type atoms pass a resonatorlike equipment of dispersing and absorbing macroscopic bodies giving rise to body-assisted electromagnetic field resonances of well-defined heights and widths. Strong atom-field coupling is combined with weak atom-field coupling to realize entanglement transfer from the dipole-allowed transitions to the dipole-forbidden transitions, whereby the entanglement is preserved when the atoms depart from the bodies and from each other. The theory is applied to the case of atoms passing by a microsphere.

Generation of long-living entanglement between two distant three-level atoms in non-Markovian environments

Chuang Li, Sen Yang, Jie Song +2 more

In this paper, a scheme for the generation of long-living entanglement between two distant Λ-type three-level atoms separately trapped in two dissipative cavities is proposed. In this scheme, two dissipative cavities are coupled to their own non-Markovian environments and two three-level atoms are driven by the classical fields. The entangled state between the two atoms is produced by performing Bell state measurement (BSM) on photons leaving the dissipative cavities. Using the time-dependent Schördinger equation, we obtain the analytical results for the evolution of the entanglement. It is revealed that, by manipulating the detunings of classical field, the long-living stationary entanglement between two atoms can be generated in the presence of dissipation.

A Cavity-QED Scheme for Generating Long-Lived Maximally Entangled States

Shao-Hua Xiang, Shao Bin, Kehui Song +1 more

We propose a potentially practical scheme to generate two-atom maximally entangled states by the large-detuning interaction between two three-level Λ-type atoms and coherent optical fields. Conditioned on the results of detecting cavity field, four pairs of atomic maximally entangled states with unity fidelity and high successful probability can be prepared. We also investigate the influence of the cavity dissipation on the generated entangled states and discuss the experimental feasibility of our scheme.

Atomic entanglement near a realistic microsphere

Ho Trung Dung, Stefan Scheel, D.‐G. Welsch +1 more

We study a scheme for entangling two-level atoms located close to the surface of a dielectric microsphere. The effect is based on medium-assisted spontaneous decay, rigorously taking into account dispersive and absorptive properties of the microsphere. We show that even in the weak-coupling regime, where the Markov approximation applies, entanglement up to 0.35 ebits between two atoms can be created. However, larger entanglement and violation of Bell's inequality can only be achieved in the strong-coupling regime.

Dispersive atom-field interaction scheme for three-dimensional entanglement between two spatially separated atoms

Xin‐You Lü, Jibing Liu, Chunling Ding +1 more

We propose a scheme for deterministically generating three-dimensional (3D) entanglement between two distant five-level atoms based on the dispersive atom-field interaction. In our scheme, the two atoms are trapped separately in two spatially separated optical cavities coupled by an optical fiber. To check the experimental feasibility of our scheme, we numerically simulated effects of the atomic spontaneous decay and photon leakage out of the fiber, and the numerical simulation shows that those effects can be suppressed by appropriately choosing the frequency detuning of atom-field and the coupling intensity of cavity fiber, respectively. We also discussed the influence of photon leakage out of the cavities, and the strictly numerical simulation shows our proposal is good enough to demonstrate the generation of 3D entanglement with high fidelity and within the current experimental technology.

Generation of an entangled state of two three-level atoms in cavity QED

Xu‐Bo Zou, K. Pahlke, Wolfgang M. Mathis

We present a scheme to generate a maximally entangled state of two three-level atoms with a nonresonant cavity by cavity-assisted collisions. Since the cavity field is only virtually excited, no quantum information will be transferred from the atoms to the cavity.

Deterministic entanglement of Rydberg ensembles by engineered dissipation

D. D. Bhaktavatsala Rao, Klaus Mølmer

We propose a scheme that employs dissipation to deterministically generate entanglement in an ensemble of strongly interacting Rydberg atoms. With a combination of microwave driving between different Rydberg levels and a resonant laser coupling to a short-lived atomic state, the ensemble can be driven towards a dark steady state that entangles all atoms. The long-range resonant dipole-dipole interaction between different Rydberg states extends the entanglement beyond the van der Waals interaction range with perspectives for entangling atoms in separate ensembles.
