Abstract

Through scanned coincidence counting, we probe the quantum image produced by parametric down-conversion with a pump-beam carrying orbital angular momentum. Nonlocal spatial correlations are manifested through splitting of the coincidence spot into two.

Quantum imaging of nonlocal spatial correlations in parametric down-conversion induced by the pump-beam profile

We present a quantum imaging method wherein the quantum image obtained through coincidence counting is dependent on the pump-beam profile. Quantum nature of the nonlocal spatial correlations are experimentally verified.

Coincidence structures carrying orbital angular momentum in Type-II spontaneous- parametric-down-conversion are obtained theoretically. Azimuthal symmetry breaking around the pump beam direction is reflected on these structures.

Transverse coincidence structures in spontaneous parametric down-conversion with orbital angular momentum: Theory

Geraldo A. Barbosa

Coincidence structures in the transverse plane of type-II spontaneous parametric down-conversion carrying orbital angular momentum are obtained. Azimuthal symmetry breaking around the pump beam direction reveals itself on these quantum images. Analytical expressions for the amplitude probability of the down-conversion process are shown including the nonlinear polarizability components.

Role of pump-beam orbital angular momentum in type-II parametric down-conversion

We experimentally show that nonzero pump-beam angular momentum plays a different role in type-II parametric down-converstion than in type-I. We explore the reason(s) why pump-beam profile does not appear in coincidence imaging of type-II down-converstion.

Correlations in orbital angular momentum of spatially entangled paired photons generated in parametric down-conversion

Clara I. Osorio, Gabriel Molina‐Terriza, Juan P. Torres

What are the orbital angular momentum correlations between spatially entangled photon pairs generated in spontaneous parametric down-conversion? We show that the answer to this question can be given in two alternative, although complementary, ways. The answer posed in this Brief Report explains satisfactorily the seemingly contradictory results obtained in different experiments, and theoretical approaches.

Entanglement and conservation of orbital angular momentum in spontaneous parametric down-conversion

We show that the transfer of the plane-wave spectrum of the pump beam to the fourth-order transverse spatial correlation function of the two-photon field generated by spontaneous parametric down-conversion leads to the conservation and entanglement of orbital angular momentum of light. By means of a simple experimental setup based on fourth-order (or two-photon) interferometry, we show that our theoretical model provides a good description for down-converted fields carrying orbital angular momentum.
