Efficient generation of distant atom entanglement via cavity decay

Abstract

We show how the entanglement of two atoms, trapped in distant separate cavities, can be generated with arbitrarily high probability of success. The scheme proposed employs sudden excitation of the atoms proving that the weakly driven condition is not necessary to obtain the success rate close to unity. The modified scheme works properly even if each cavity contains many atoms interacting with the cavity modes. We also show that our method is robust against spontaneous atomic decay.

Establishment of Entanglement for Two Atoms Trapped in Two Distant Bad Cavities

LU Dao-ming, Zheng Shi-Biao

A scheme is presented for generation of entangled states for two atoms trapped in two distant bad cavities. The scheme can work with bad cavities with the coupling strength smaller than the cavity decay rate, which is important from the viewpoint of experiment. In the scheme the atoms have no probability of being populated in the excited state and thus the atomic spontaneous emission is suppressed, which increases the probability of success. The fidelity of the entangled state is not affected by the detection efficiency. Furthermore, the scheme does not require the detection of the left-polarized photon and right-polarized photon at the same time.

Efficient Scheme for Entangling Two Distant Atoms

LU Dao-ming, Zheng Shi-Biao

A scheme is presented for the generation of entangled states for two atoms trapped in two distant cavities. In the scheme each atom is resonantly coupled with the respective cavity mode and driven by a strong classical field. The detection of a photon decaying from the cavities and passing through a beam-splitter collapses the atoms to an entangled state. The required atom-field interaction time is very short and thus the decoherence effect is suppressed. Our scheme is within the reach of presently available cavity QED techniques.

Robust generation of high-fidelity entangled states for multiple atoms

Lin Li-Hua

A scheme is presented for generating entangled states of multiple atoms in a cavity. In the scheme the atoms simultaneously interact with a cavity mode, with the first atom driven by two classical fields and the other atoms driven by a classical field. Our scheme is valid even if the cavity decay rate is larger than the effective coupling strength, which is important for experiment. The generation of entangled states is conditional on the detection of a photon decaying from the cavity and thus the fidelity of the entangled state is insensitive to the detection inefficiency. Furthermore, the scheme can be applied to the case with any number of atoms in principle.

Purification of entangled states for two atoms via cavity decay

Zheng Shi-Biao

In this paper a scheme is proposed for the purification of entangled states for two atoms trapped in two distant cavities via cavity decay. In the scheme, the atoms have no probability of being populated in the excited state and thus the atomic spontaneous emission is suppressed. This scheme is valid no matter when the cavity decay rate is larger or smaller than the effective atom-cavity coupling strength. The fidelity of the final state is not affected by the imperfection of the photodetectors.

Deterministic generation of entangled coherent states for two atomic samples

LU Dao-ming, Zheng Shi-Biao

This paper proposes an efficient scheme for deterministic generation of entangled coherent states for two atomic samples. In the scheme two collections of atoms are trapped in an optical cavity and driven by a classical field. Under certain conditions the two atomic samples evolve from an coherent state to an entangled coherent state. During the interaction the cavity mode is always in the vacuum state and the atoms have no probability of being populated in the excited state. Thus, the scheme is insensitive to both the cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission.

Deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement for two atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities

Sai-Yun Ye, Zhi‐Rong Zhong, Shi‐Biao Zheng

A scheme is proposed for the deterministic generation of three-dimensional entanglement of two distant atoms separately trapped in two optical cavities connected by an optical fiber. Employing adiabatic passage along dark states, the atoms are always in ground states, in particular, the fiber mode remains in the vacuum state due to the quantum destructive interference, and the population of the cavities being excited can be negligible under certain conditions. In this sense, our scheme constructs an effective way to avoid the atomic spontaneous emission and the decays of fiber and cavities.
