Time-dependent Displaced and Squeezed Number States

Abstract

We generalize the wave functions of the displaced and squeezed number states, found by Nieto, to a time-dependent harmonic oscillator with variable mass and frequency. These time-dependent displaced and squeezed number states are obtained by first squeezing and then displacing the exact number states and are exact solutions of the Schrödinger equation. Further, these wave functions are the time-dependent squeezed harmonic-oscillator wave functions centered at classical trajectories.

Generating displaced and squeezed number states by a general driven time-dependent oscillator

Chi‐Fai Lo

In this paper we examine the possibility of generating displaced and squeezed number states out of number states by the general driven time-dependent oscillator. Using the evolution-operator method developed by Cheng and Fung [J. Phys. A 21, 4115 (1988)], we investigate the evolution of a number state of a general driven time-dependent oscillator as well as its squeezing property. Our analyses indicate that the wave function of the time-dependent oscillator starts as a number state at t=0 and evolves as a displaced and squeezed number state at a later time.

The exact evolution of the time-dependent driven damped harmonic oscillator with time-dependent mass and frequency

M Liang, B Yuan, Kai Zhong

Under a new quantization scheme, the exact wave functions of the time-dependent driven damped harmonic oscillator with time-dependent mass and frequency are obtained. The wave functions are shape-unchanging wave packet with the center moving along the classical trajectory. The total phase of the wave function is explicitly expressed as the sum of the dynamical phase and the geometrical phase. PACS Nos.: 03.65-w, 05.40-a

Wave function in the invariant representation and squeezed-state function of the time-dependent harmonic oscillator

Kyu Hwang Yeon, Hyon Ju Kim, Chung‐In Um +2 more

The two quantum invariant operators are found from the time-dependent Hamiltonian of the harmonic oscillator with an auxiliary condition. The solution of the Schr\"odinger equation for the system, such as the eigenfunctions, eigenvalues, and minimum uncertainty, is derived by utilizing these invariant operators. The coherent states of this system are not the squeezed states, and the eigenfunction of the invariant operator is not the eigenfunction of the Hamiltonian of the system unless it is in the invariant representation. The squeezing function, which is an eigenfunction of the Hamiltonian of the system in the invariant representation and which also gives the minimum uncertainty, is obtained by a set of unitary transformed operators, i.e., squeezing operators.
