Abstract

We present an optomechanical system as a paradigm of a three-mode teleportation network. Quantum state transfer among optical and vibrational modes becomes possible by exploiting correlations established by radiation pressure.

Continuous-variable entanglement and quantum-state teleportation between optical and macroscopic vibrational modes through radiation pressure

Stefano Pirandola, Stefano Mancini, David Vitali +1 more

We study an isolated, perfectly reflecting, mirror illuminated by an intense laser pulse. We show that the resulting radiation pressure efficiently entangles a mirror vibrational mode with the two reflected optical sideband modes of the incident carrier beam. The entanglement of the resulting three-mode state is studied in detail and it is shown to be robust against the mirror mode temperature. We then show how this continuous-variable entanglement can be profitably used to teleport an unknown quantum state of an optical mode onto the vibrational mode of the mirror.

Optomechanical devices, entanglement and teleportation

Andrea Mari

In this thesis we study continuous variable systems, focusing on optomechanical devices where a laser field interacts with a macroscopic mechanical oscillator through radiation pressure. We consider the optimization problem of quantum teleportation by means of Gaussian local operations and we study the relation between the amount of entanglement shared by Alice and Bob and the maximum fidelity they can reach for the teleportation of coherent states. We also theoretically predict the possibility of creating a robust entanglement between a mechanical mode of a Fabry-Perot mirror and the Stokes sideband of the output field. We show that by driving two different optical modes supported by the cavity, a stable steady state is reachable in which the optomechanical entanglement is significantly improved.

Proposal for optomechanical quantum teleportation

Jie Li, Andreas Wallucks, Rodrigo Benevides +4 more

We present a discrete-variable quantum teleportation scheme using pulsed optomechanics. In our proposal, we demonstrate how an unknown optical input state can be transferred onto the joint state of a pair of mechanical oscillators, without physically interacting with one another. We further analyze how experimental imperfections will affect the fidelity of the teleportation and highlight how our scheme can be realized in current state-of-the-art optomechanical systems.

Continuous variable entanglement by radiation pressure

Stefano Pirandola, Stefano Mancini, David Vitali +1 more

We show that when an intense and quasi-monochromatic laser field is incident on a single vibrating and perfectly reflecting mirror in free space, radiation pressure realizes an effective coupling between a mirror vibrational mode and the first two optical sidebands of the incident field. The two reflected sidebands are in fact entangled by the optomechanical interaction and the resulting continuous variable entanglement proves to be robust against the thermal noise acting on the vibrational mode. If the duration of the incident laser pulse is appropriately chosen, the resulting state of the two sideband modes becomes an exact two-mode squeezed state.
