Statistics of Matrix Elements of Local Operators in Integrable Models

Fabian H. L. Eßler, Albertus J. J. M. de Klerk

We study the statistics of matrix elements of local operators in the basis of energy eigenstates in a paradigmatic, integrable, many-particle quantum theory, the Lieb-Liniger model of bosons with repulsive delta-function interactions. Using methods of quantum integrability, we determine the scaling of matrix elements with system size. As a consequence of the extensive number of conservation laws, the structure of matrix elements is fundamentally different from, and much more intricate than, the predictions of the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis for generic models. We uncover an interesting connection between this structure for local operators in interacting integrable models and the one for local operators that are not local with respect to the elementary excitations in free theories. We find that typical off-diagonal matrix elements ⟨ μ | O | λ ⟩ in the same macrostate scale as exp ( − c O L ln ( L ) − L M μ , λ O ) , where the probability distribution function for M μ , λ O is well described by Fréchet distributions and c O depends only on macrostate information. In contrast, typical off-diagonal matrix elements between two different macrostates scale as exp ( − d O L 2 ) , where d O depends only on macrostate information. Diagonal matrix elements depend only on macrostate information up to finite-size corrections. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Quantum State Model of Fuzzy Morphological Structuring Element

Zhang Cheng-bi

Quantum computing as a new computational theory model is becoming the focus of information study. To realize the effective fusion of fuzzy morphology and quantum computing model,a fuzzy morphological structuring element based on quantum state model is proposed. Inspired by quantum signal processing theory, the structuring element is denoted by quantum bit system,a degree of membership function denotes a probability of quantum state. A fuzzy structuring element is collapsed as a clear structuring element through quantum measurement. Simulation analysis shows the feasibility of the quantum state model, and morphological filter can effectively remove noise and keep the detail information by using the collapsed structuring element.

Emergent Quantum Regimes from Decoherent Projections

Iker Ibarrola Echeverría

We present an emergent account of quantum theory based on a minimal correlational framework in which no fundamental states, dynamics, or probabilistic axioms are assumed. Quantum behavior arises from admissible decoherent projections that induce equivalence classes of correlational configurations and suppress relational phase information. Effective quantum states are identified with these equivalence classes, while probability emerges as a normalized structural measure over them. The Born rule is recovered as a consistency condition associated with linear representations of equivalence classes, and measurement is reinterpreted as a structural interaction defined by projection rather than as a physical collapse. Decoherence, probability, and classicality are unified as manifestations of restricted access to correlational information stabilized by persistence. Quantum theory is thereby situated as an emergent, regime-dependent description alongside propagation and gravitation, resolving its conceptual puzzles by demoting its formal elements from fundamental postulates to effective constructs.
