Abstract

We investigate the generation of multipartite entangled state in a system of N quantum dots embedded in a microcavity and examine the emergence of genuine multipartite entanglement by three different characterizations of entanglement. At certain times of dynamical evolution one can generate multipartite entangled coherent exciton states or multiqubit W states by initially preparing the cavity field in a superposition of coherent states or the Fock state with one photon, respectively. Finally, we study environmental effects on multipartite entanglement generation and find that the decay rate for the entanglement is proportional to the number of excitons.

Dynamics of entanglement for coherent excitonic states in a system of two coupled quantum dots and cavity QED

Yu-xi Liu, Şahin Kaya Özdemir, Masato Koashi +1 more

The dynamics of the entanglement for coherent excitonic states in the system of two, coupled, large semiconductor quantum dots ${(R/a}_{B}\ensuremath{\gg}1)$ mediated by a single-mode cavity field is investigated. Maximally entangled coherent excitonic states can be generated by cavity field initially prepared in odd coherent state. The entanglement of the excitonic coherent states between two dots reaches maximum when no photon is present in the cavity. The effects of the zero-temperature environment on the entanglement of excitonic coherent state are also studied using the concurrence for two subsystems of the excitons.

Generation of a two photon entangled states from a quantum dot embedded in a microcavity

Jitendra Kumar Verma, Pradyumna K. Pathak

We propose methods for generating entangled two photon state. Where, a single quantum dot is embedded in a photonic microcavity having two orthogonal modes. The quantum dot is off- resonantly coupled to the cavity through phonon mediated coupling. The emitted photons are entangled either in polarization degrees of freedom or in numbers. We also discuss effect of exciton- phonon coupling on entanglement.

Exciton entanglement in coupled quantum dots in a microcavity

Chun-Hua Yuan, Ka‐Di Zhu, Xiao-Zhong Yuan

We propose a scheme that allows generation of the Bell and $W$-type entangled states of excitons in quantum dots confined in a single-mode microcavity. It is shown that the entanglement of excitons can be generated when the photons leaking out of the cavity are detected by photon counter. The effect of environmental temperature on the entanglement of excitonic states is also studied.

Entanglement dynamics of two independent cavity-embedded quantum dots

We investigate the dynamical behavior of entanglement in a system made of two solid-state emitters, as two quantum dots, embedded in two separated microcavities. In these solid-state systems, in addition to the coupling with the cavity mode, the emitter is coupled to a continuum of leaky modes providing additional losses and is also subjected to a phonon-induced pure dephasing mechanism. We model this physical configuration as a multipartite system composed of two independent parts each containing a qubit embedded in a single-mode cavity, exposed to cavity losses, spontaneous emission and pure dephasing. We study the time evolution of entanglement of this multipartite open system, finally applying this theoretical framework to the case of currently available solid-state quantum dots in microcavities.
