An interpretation of the black-body radiation

Shun-ichiro Koh

Published Aug 2, 2002• 0 citations
arXivHTMLPDF

Abstract

The black-body radiation is reinterpreted in terms of the photon's many-body wave functions in analogy with the condensed matter physics. This interpretation has implications on the wave-particle duality, and on the difference between the photon and the matter wave.

Physical Interpretation of de Broglie’s Wave Particle Duality Relation in a Phonon

Arijit Bag

Using Planck’s postulates for black body radiation and wave particle duality relation of de Broglie we can get a relation between mass of a phonon and emission frequency of a body at different temperatures. Using boundary condition lower limit of mass of a phonon is calculated which is 7.36 × 10^{−51} kg.

Calculation of Bag's Constant Using Planck's Equation of Black Body Radiation

Classical interpretation and derivation of wave particle duality relation has been done very recently usingNewtonian mechanics which is termed as Bag's wave of a particle.According to Bag's wave particle duality, wavelength of a moving particle is λ = b / p , instead of λ = h / p which is for de Broglie wave length of a particle. The constant 'b' is a function of opposition field and spin momentum of the particle. So far b is not characterized completely and not used for experimental purpose. In this article an approximate value of b is presented which is calculated using few assumptions.Calculated value of b differs from value of h.This discrepancy is addressed. It is also shown that at T = 4.8 × 10 -11 K, b and h become equal. This temperature is termed as equivalence temperature.

De Broglie’s Matter Waves and Einstein’s Quantum Theory of the Ideal Gas

Anthony Duncan A, Michel Janssen B

Abstract This chapter covers De Broglie’s extension to matter of wave–particle duality, which Einstein had introduced for radiation. It fills in the background in the tradition of extremal principles in classical physics that De Broglie drew on to formulate his theory. It then covers Bose’s introduction of a new statistics for light quanta and Einstein’s application of those statistics to matter in his quantum theory of the ideal gas. Providing support for De Broglie’s ideas, Einstein derived a formula for energy fluctuations in such a gas that has the exact same form as the formula for energy fluctuations in black-body radiations: it is the sum of two terms, one suggesting waves, the other one suggesting particles.
