Role of degenerate atomic levels in the entanglement and the decoherence

Abstract

We studied the dispersive dissipation of denegerate-level atom interacting with a single linearly-polarized mode field. It is found that the degeneracy of the atomic level affects the dissipation bahavior of the system as well as the subsystems. The degeneracy of the atomic level augment the periods of entanglement and increase the degree of the maxima statistical mixture states.

The dissipative dynamics of the Jaynes-Cummings model with degenerate atomic levels

Ling Zhou, H. S. Song, Yao-Xing Luo

We studied the dissipative dynamics of a degenerate-level atom interacting with a single linearly polarized mode field in the dispersive approximation. It is found that the degeneracy of the atomic levels affects the dissipation of the system, of the atom and the field. The period of entanglement becomes much longer than that in the usual Jaynes-Cummings model dissipation. The degeneracy of the atomic level increases the maximum value of the degree of the statistical mixture.

ENTANGLEMENT DYNAMICS AND COHERENCE OF A TWO-LEVEL ATOM COUPLED TO TWO FIELD MODES IN THE DISPERSIVE APPROXIMATION

Jian-Song Zhang, PING YU, Aixi Chen

We investigate the entanglement dynamics and coherence loss of a two-level atom dispersively interacting with two coherent fields in a dissipative cavity by using the concurrence and linear entropy, respectively. It is shown that the atomic coherence can lead to entanglement between the atom and one mode while the two modes are always separable. We also find that there is long-lived coherence loss as the system evolves.

Linear entropy evolution in a dissipative system of two atoms and cavity field

Xiong Yang, Zhao-Yang Tong, Shao-Hua Xiang +1 more

Some investigations have been made on the evolution of the linear entropies of atom-field system, in which two identical two-level atoms simultaneously interact with a single-mode dissipative cavity field under large detuning. The effects of the initial atom states and the dissipative factors of the cavity on all linear entropies are also discussed. The results show that the influence of the cavity decay constant on different kinds of Bell states is completely different, and the state |Ψ〉12 is a robust entangled state against the decoherence while the state |Φ〉12 is a fragile entangled state.

The entanglement dynamics of two entangled atoms in the dissipative cavity

In this paper, we investigate the entanglement dynamics of two entangled two-level atoms interacting with a single-mode field in a dissipative cavity. The results show that the evolution properties of the entanglement degree of two entangled atoms depend on the initial atomic entanglement degree and form, the average photon number of the cavity field, and the cavity leakage rate. When the atoms are initially in a particular entangled state, the degree of entanglement can be amplified and not influenced by the dissipation of the cavity field.
