Abstract

We present a measure of entanglement that can be computed effectively for any mixed state of an arbitrary bipartite system. We show that it does not increase under local manipulations of the system, and use it to obtain a bound on the teleportation capacity and on the distillable entanglement of mixed states.

Entanglement measure for rank-2 mixed states

Tobias J. Osborne

We provide an easily computable formula for a bipartite mixed-state entanglement measure. Our formula can be applied to readily calculate the entanglement for any rank-2 mixed state of a bipartite system. We use this formula to provide a tight upper bound for the entanglement of formation for rank-2 states of a qubit and a qudit. We also outline situations where our formula could be applied to study the entanglement properties of complex quantum systems.

Entanglement of formation and concurrence for mixed states

Xiu-Hong Gao, Sergio A Albeverio, Kai Chen +2 more

We review some results on analytical computations of the measures for quantum entanglement: entanglement of formation and concurrence. We introduce some estimations of the lower bounds for the entanglement of formation in bipartite mixed states, and of lower bounds for the concurrence in bipartite and tripartite systems. The results on lower bounds for the concurrence are also generalized to arbitrary multipartite systems.

Estimating entanglement through local correlations

Isabel Sainz, Christian Kothe, Gunnar G. Bjork

A bipartite, arbitrary-dimensional entanglement measure based on local correlations of any set of generators of the corresponding algebras is proposed. An explicit relation with the I- and 3-concurrences for pure states, and a limit for entangled mixed states, are given.

Entanglement Cost of Bipartite Mixed States

Guifré Vidal, Wolfgang Dür, J. I. Cirac

We compute the entanglement cost of several families of bipartite mixed states, including arbitrary mixtures of two Bell states. This is achieved by developing a technique that allows us to ascertain the additivity of the entanglement of formation for any state supported on specific subspaces. As a side result, the proof of the irreversibility in asymptotic local manipulations of entanglement is extended to two-qubit systems.

Bound entanglement and teleportation for arbitrary bipartite systems

Jiao Fan, Hui Zhao

We construct bound entangled states that are entangled but from which no entanglement can be distilled if all parties are allowed only by performing local operations and classical communications. Moreover, as applications, a detailed example is presented. This example can illuminate that the fidelity of transmission using a bound entangled state is not bigger than a classical scheme.

Quantifying the activation power of bipartite entangled states

Fgsl Brandão

We show that the maximum percentual increase that a given bipartite entangled state may provide in the fidelity of teleportation of another arbitrary state is equal to the its generalized robustness of entanglement. In this way, we find a fully operational measure of entanglement in the single-copy level which is strictly positive on all entangled (free and bound) states. Moreover, we highlight the role of entanglement witnesses in this approach.
