Abstract

We investigate the quantum decoherence of a mesoscopically superposed states of excitons in a quantum well placed within a leaky cavity. Based on the factorization theory of quantum dissipation, our investigation shows that the coherence of the superposed states of the excitons will decrease in an oscillating form when the cavity field is of the quasimode form. Regarding the effects of the thermal cavity fields on the quantum decoherence of the superposition states of the exciton, we observe that the higher the temperature of the environment, the shorter the decoherence characteristic time.

By using the normal ordering method, we study the state evolution of an optically driven excitons in a quantum well immersed in a leaky cavity, which was introduced by Yu-xi Liu et.al. [Phys. Rev. A {\bf 63}, 033816 (2001)]. The influence of the external laser field on the quantum decoherence of a mesoscopically superposed states of the excitons is investigated. Our result shows that, thought the characteristic time of decoherence does not depend on the external field, the phase of the decoherence factor can be well controlled by adjusting the external parameters.

STATISTICAL QUANTUM PROPERTIES OF EXCITONS IN A LEAKY CAVITY WITH QUASIMODES

Jiao Zhi

The quantum properties of the exciton in a leaky cavity with quasi modes were investigated. It is shown that there exists energy exchange between the exciton and cavity field when the cavity is initially in the vacuum state, and the exciton is initially in a superposition of the vacuum state and number state. The exciton and the cavity field may exhibit sub Poissonian distribution. The correlation between the exciton and the cavity is classical, which implies that there has no violation of the Cauchy Schwartz inequality.

Atom dynamical dissipation in the laser cavity with quasimode

In this paper we study the atom dissipation effect in a laser cavity. The cavity field mode is described by the Fox—Li quasimode due to the leakiness of the cavity. Our results show that the atom decay rate versus the decay rate of the quasimode is a Lorentz type. Effects of the atom—cavity detuning as well as cavity size are also discussed.

Quantum Statistical Properties of the Exciton in a Leaky Quasi-Mode Cavity

Zhao-Xian Yu, Jiao Zhi-Yong

We have studied quantum statistical properties of the exciton in a leaky quasi-mode cavity. It is shown that when the exciton is initially in a squeezed coherent state whereas cavity initially in a vacuum state, there is energy exchange between the exciton and cavity. Both the exciton and cavity may exhibit sub-Poissonian distribution and exist quadrature squeezing. Calculation shows that correlation between the exciton and cavity is classical, which implies that there is not the violation of the Cauchy–Schwartz inequality.
