Abstract

We study representation theory of Drinfel'd twists, in terms of what we call F matrices, associated to finite dimensional irreducible modules of quantum affine algebras, and which factorize the corresponding (unitary) R matrices. We construct explicitly such factorizing F matrices for irreducible tensor products of the fundamental representations of the quantum affine algebra sl2 and its associated Yangian. We then apply these constructions to the XXX and XXZ quantum spins chains of finite length in the framework of the Algebraic Bethe Ansatz.

Derivation of the matrix product ansatz for the Heisenberg chain from the algebraic Bethe ansatz

Hosho Katsura, Isao Maruyama

We derive a matrix product representation of the Bethe ansatz state for the XXX and XXZ spin-1 2 Heisenberg chains using the algebraic Bethe ansatz. In this representation, the components of the Bethe eigenstates are expressed as traces of products of matrices which act on H, the tensor product of auxiliary spaces.By changing the basis in H, we derive explicit finite-dimensional representations for the matrices. These matrices are the same as those appearing in the recently proposed matrix product ansatz by Alcaraz and Lazo (2006 J. Phys.A: Math.Gen. 39 11335) apart from normalization factors. We also discuss the close relation between the matrix product representation of the Bethe eigenstates and the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions (Korepin 1982 Commun.Math.Phys.86 391) and show that the change of basis corresponds to a mapping from the six-vertex model to the five-vertex model.

Derivation of Matrix Product Ansatz for the Heisenberg Chain from Algebraic Bethe Ansatz

Hosho Katsura, Isao Maruyama

We derive a matrix product representation of the Bethe ansatz state for the XXX and XXZ spin-1/2 Heisenberg chains using the algebraic Bethe ansatz. In this representation, the components of the Bethe eigenstates are expressed as traces of products of matrices which act on ${\bar {\mathscr H}}$, the tensor product of auxiliary spaces. By changing the basis in ${\bar {\mathscr H}}$, we derive explicit finite-dimensional representations for the matrices. These matrices are the same as those appearing in the recently proposed matrix product ansatz by Alcaraz and Lazo [Alcaraz F C and Lazo M J 2006 {\it J. Phys. A: Math. Gen.} \textbf{39} 11335.] apart from normalization factors. We also discuss the close relation between the matrix product representation of the Bethe eigenstates and the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions [Korepin V E 1982 {\it Commun. Math. Phys.}, \textbf{86} 391.] and show that the change of basis corresponds to a mapping from the six-vertex model to the five-vertex model.

Bethe eigenvectors of higher transfer matrices

Evgeny Mukhin, V. Tarasov, A Varchenko

We consider the XXX -type and Gaudin quantum integrable models associated with the Lie algebra . The models are defined on a tensor product of irreducible -modules. For each model, there exist N one-parameter families of commuting operators on , called the transfer matrices. We show that the Bethe vectors for these models, given by the algebraic nested Bethe ansatz, are eigenvectors of higher transfer matrices and compute the corresponding eigenvalues.

Nested algebraic Bethe ansaetze for orthogonal and symplectic spin chains

Allan John Gerrard

In this thesis the nested algebraic Bethe ansatz technique is applied to various orthogonal and symplectic closed and open spin chain models. Each spin chain considered is regarded as a representation of an underlying quantum group algebra, and expressions for eigenvectors of transfer matrices associated to these models are constructed using the algebra relations, reducing the problem to a set of Bethe equations. The specific models considered are the Ol'shanskii twisted Yangian spin chain, where gl_n bulk symmetry is broken to orthogonal or symplectic symmetry; the MacKay twisted Yangian spin chain, an open spin chain with bulk orthogonal or symplectic symmetry and various boundary types; and the q-deformed orthogonal or symplectic closed spin chain. For the first and third cases, a closed 'trace formula' expression for the eigenvector is also provided.

Bethe Eigenvectors of Higher Transfer Matrices

Evgeny Mukhin

We consider the XXX-type and Gaudin quantum integrable models associated with the Lie algebra gl N. The models are defined on a tensor product M1 ⊗... ⊗ Mn of irreducible gl N-modules. For each model, there exist N oneparameter families of commuting operators on M1 ⊗... ⊗ Mn, called the transfer matrices. We show that the Bethe vectors for these models, given by the algebraic nested Bethe ansatz, are eigenvectors of higher transfer matrices and compute the corresponding eigenvalues.

Analytical Bethe Ansatz for quantum-algebra-invariant spin chains

Luca Mezincescu, Rafael I. Nepomechie

We have recently constructed a large class of open quantum spin chains which have quantum-algebra symmetry and which are integrable. We show here that these models can be exactly solved using a generalization of the analytical Bethe Ansatz (BA) method. In particular, we determine in this way the spectrum of the transfer matrices of the Uq[su(2)]-invariant spin chains associated with A1(1) and A2(2) in the fundamental representation. The quantum-algebra invariance of these models plays an essential role in obtaining these results. The BA equations for these open chains are “doubled” with respect to the BA equations for the corresponding closed chains.
