Yang-Baxter equation for the asymmetric eight-vertex model

Abstract

In this paper we study, in the manner of Baxter [R. J. Baxter Exactly Solved Models in Statistical Mechanics (Academic, New York, 1982)], the possible integrable manifolds of the asymmetric eight-vertex model. As expected, they occur when the Boltzmann weights are either symmetric or satisfy the free-fermion condition; but our analysis clarifies the reason why both manifolds need to share a universal invariant. We also show that the free-fermion condition implies three distinct classes of integrable models.

Integrability of the odd eight-vertex model with symmetric weights

M J Martins

Abstract In this paper we investigate the integrability properties of a two-state vertex model on the square lattice whose microstates at a vertex always have an odd number of incoming or outcoming arrows. This model was named the odd eight-vertex model by Wu and Kunz (2004 J. Stat. Phys . 116 67) to distinguish it from the well-known eight-vertex model possessing an even number of arrow orientations at each vertex. When the energy weights are invariant under arrow inversion we show that the integrable manifold of the odd eight-vertex model coincides with that of the even eight-vertex model. The form of the -matrix for the odd eight-vertex model is however not the same as that of the respective Lax operator. Altogether we find that these eight-vertex models give rise to a generic sheaf of -matrices satisfying the Yang–Baxter equations resembling intertwiner relations associated to equidimensional representations.

The Yang–Baxter equation for \mathcal {PT} invariant 19-vertex models

Rodrigo A. Pimenta, M J Martins

We study the solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation associated with 19-vertex models invariant by the parity-time symmetry from the perspective of algebraic geometry. We determine the form of the algebraic curves constraining the respective Boltzmann weights and find that they possess a universal structure. This allows us to classify the integrable manifolds into four different families reproducing three known models, besides uncovering a novel 19-vertex model in a unified way. The introduction of the spectral parameter on the weights is made via the parameterization of the fundamental algebraic curve which is a conic. The diagonalization of the transfer matrix of the new vertex model and its thermodynamic limit properties are discussed. We point out a connection between the form of the main curve and the nature of the excitations of the corresponding spin-1 chains.

Random matrix theory and classical statistical mechanics: Vertex models

H. Meyer, J C Anglès d'Auriac, J.-M. Maillard

A connection between integrability properties and general statistical properties of the spectra of symmetric transfer matrices of the asymmetric eight-vertex model is studied using random matrix theory (eigenvalue spacing distribution and spectral rigidity). For Yang-Baxter integrable cases, including free-fermion solutions, we found a Poissonian behavior, whereas level repulsion close to the Wigner distribution is found for nonintegrable models. For the asymmetric eight-vertex model, however, the level repulsion can also disappear, and the Poisson distribution be recovered on (non Yang-Baxter integrable) algebraic varieties, the so-called disorder varieties. We also present an infinite set of algebraic varieties which are stable under the action of an infinite discrete symmetry group of the parameter space. These varieties are possible loci for free parafermions. Using our numerical criterion, we tested the generic calculability of the model on these algebraic varieties.

A NEW SOLVABLE 3D MODEL OF STATISTICAL MECHANICS: THE FREE-FERMION SOLUTION

A. E. Borovik, S. I. Kulinich, Vladislav Popkov +1 more

We obtain a new exactly solvable K-plane vertex model. This 3D model is one wih real Boltzmann weights and nearest neighbor interactions. The corresponding Yang-Baxter equation is proved. The Bethe ansatz has also been found, enabling us to completely investigate the phase diagram in the “free fermions” case.

SU(2) parameterisation of Baxter's model

Omar E. Foda

A parametrisation of the Boltzmann weights of Baxter's symmetric eight-vertex model (1982) is derived, using Cherednik's representation (1979) of the Zamolodchikov algebra, in terms of theta functions based on the weight lattice of SU(2). The Yang-Baxter equations are satisfied as a consequence of the associativity of the Zamolodchikov algebra. The derivation makes the connection of Baxter's model to the spin-1/2 representation of SU(2) explicit.

PARAMETRIZED EIGHT-VERTEX MODEL AND KNOT INVARIANT

T.K. Kassenova

The article discusses and expands the known elements of the eight-vertex model, paying special attention to the parameterization of the matrix. The matrix values are interconnected with the knot through the braids and this model is valid on finite square lattices in two-dimensional space. A new solution of the parametrized eight-vertex model of free fermions with a complex version of elliptic functions, which is valid on a finite lattice, will be constructed. The range of applicability of the eight-vertex model with elements of the Jacobi elliptic function and the construction of a knot invariant on its basis is discussed by comparing the results obtained analytically for the model. The construction of the knot invariant using the Clebsch-Gordan coefficients and the main tool of statistical mechanics of the Yang-Baxter equation will be studied in detail
