The Exact Quantum Sine-Gordon Field Equation and Other Non-Perturbative Results

H. Babujian, M. Karowski, Technische Univ. Berlin (Germany). Sonderforschungsbereich 288 -Differentialgeometrie und Quantenphysik

Using the methods of the "form factor program" exact expressions of all matrix elements are obtained for several operators of the quantum sine Gordon model: all powers of the fundamental bose field, general exponentials of it, the energy momentum tensor and all higher currents. It is found that the quantum sineGordon field equation holds with an exact relation between the "bare" mass and the renormalized mass. Also a relation for the trace of the energy momentum is obtained. The eigenvalue problem for all higher conserved charges is solved. All results are compared with Feynman graph expansions and full agreement is found. Sine-Gordon breather form factors and quantum field equations

H. Babujian, M. Karowski

Using the results of previous investigations on sine-Gordon form factors, exact expressions of all breather matrix elements are obtained for several operators: all powers of the fundamental Bose field, general exponentials of it, the energy–momentum tensor and all higher currents. Formulae for the asymptotic behaviour of bosonic form factors are presented which are motivated by Weinberg's power counting theorem in perturbation theory. It is found that the quantum sine-Gordon field equation holds, and an exact relation between the 'bare' mass and the renormalized mass is obtained. Also a quantum version of a classical relation for the trace of the energy–momentum is proved. The eigenvalue problem for all higher conserved charges is solved. All results are compared with perturbative Feynman graph expansions and full agreement is found.

Exact renormalization group and Sine Gordon theory

Prafulla Oak, B. Sathiapalan

The exact renormalization group is used to study the RG flow of quantities in field theories. The basic idea is to write an evolution operator for the flow and evaluate it in perturbation theory. This is easier than directly solving the differential equation. This is illustrated by reproducing known results in four dimensional ϕ 4 field theory and the two dimensional Sine-Gordon theory. It is shown that the calculation of beta function is somewhat simplified. The technique is also used to calculate the c-function in two dimensional Sine-Gordon theory. This agrees with other prescriptions for calculating c-functions in the literature. If one extrapolates the connection between central charge of a CFT and entanglement entropy in two dimensions, to the c-function of the perturbed CFT, then one gets a value for the entanglement entropy in Sine-Gordon theory that is in exact agreement with earlier calculations (including one using holography) in arXiv:1610.04233 .
