Nonrelativistic factorizable scattering theory and the Calogero-Sutherland model

Abstract

We solve the SU(N)-invariant Yang-Baxter equations imposing only the unitarity condition. The usual S matrices should satisfy the crossing symmetry which originates from the CPT invariance of relativistic quantum-field theory. In this paper, we consider nonrelativistic SU(N)-invariant factorizable S matrices by relaxing the crossing symmetry and making the amplitudes for creating and annihilating new particles vanish and find that these S matrices are exactly the same as those of the multicomponent Calogero-Sutherland model, the quantum-mechanical model with the hyperbolic potential between particles and antiparticles. This particular solution is of interest since it cannot be obtained as a nonrelativistic limit of any known relativistic solutions of the SU(N)-invariant Yang-Baxter equations. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.

Nonrelativistic Theory of Factorized S-Matrix

Kiyoshi Sogo, M. Uchinami, A. Nakamura +1 more

Nonrelativistic theory of factorized S-matrix is presented. With Z4 symmetry, the exact S-matrix is obtained by solving the factorization equations and unitarity conditions. The theory includes Calogero system and δ-function Bose gas (nonlinear Schrödinger model) as special limits. To confirm our theory, the total S-matrix for nonlinear Schrödinger model is explicitly calculated through the quantum inverse scattering method.

Bulk and boundary S-matrices for the SU(N) chain

Anastasia Doikou, Rafael I. Nepomechie

We consider both closed and open integrable antiferromagnetic chains constructed with the SU(N)-invariant R-matrix. For the closed chain, we extend the analyses of Sutherland and Kulish — Reshetikhin by considering also complex “string” solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations. Such solutions are essential to describe general multiparticle excited states. We also explicitly determine the SU(N) quantum numbers of the states. In particular, the model has particle-like excitations in the fundamental representations [k] of SU(N), with k = 1, …, N − 1. We directly compute the complete two-particle S-matrices for the cases [1] ⊗ [1] and [1] ⊗ [N − 1 ]. For the open chain with diagonal boundary fields, we show that the transfer matrix has the symmetry SU(l) × SU(N−l) × U(1), as well as a new “duality” symmetry which maps l→N−l. With the help of these symmetries, we compute by means of the Bethe ansatz for particles of types [1] and [N − 1 ] the corresponding boundary S-matrices.

With the help of these symmetries, we compute by means of the Bethe Ansatz for particles of types [1] and [N-1] the corresponding boundary S matrices.

Yang-Baxter Equation in

We consider the su(n) spin chains with long range interactions and the spin generalization of the Calogero-Sutherland models. We show that their properties derive from a transfer matrix obeying the Yang-Baxter equation. We obtain the expression of the conserved quantities and we diagonalise them.

Exchange interactions, Yang-Baxter relations and transparent particles

Alexios P. Polychronakos

We introduce a class of particle models in one dimension involving exchange interactions that have scattering properties satisfying the Yang-Baxter consistency condition. A subclass of these models exhibits reflectionless scattering, in which particles are “transparent” to each other, generalizing a property hitherto only known for the exchange Calogero model. The thermodynamics of these systems can be derived using the asymptotic Bethe-Ansatz method.
