GENERALIZED YANG-BAXTER EQUATION

Rinat Kashaev, Yu. G. Stroganov

Published Aug 10, 1993• 8 citations
arXivHTMLPDF

Abstract

A generalization of the Yang-Baxter equation is proposed. It enables us to construct integrable two-dimensional lattice models with commuting two-layer transfer matrices, while single-layer ones are not necessarily commutative. Explicit solutions to the generalized equations are found. They are related with Boltzmann weights of the sl (3) chiral Potts models.

The Yang-Baxter Equation for the Chiral Potts Model and Integrable Parafermions

Zhao Zhang

A new type of Yang-Baxter equation (YBE) for $R$-operators depending on three spectral parameters is constructed from the star-triangle relation for the chiral Potts model. As the $Z_N$ symmetric generalization to the Ising model, its Boltzmann weights are known to depend on two variables describing a curve with genus larger than one for $N>2$, except for the self-dual point corresponding to the Fateev-Zamolodchikov chain. Combined with the fact that quantum Hamiltonians of edge-type models such as the Ising model contain both nearest-neighbor interaction and onsite potential terms, this leads naturally to an additional spectral parameter in the associated $R$-operator. The construction extends the edge-vertex correspondence of solvable lattice models, and provides a bridge between the Bazhanov-Stroganov four-parameter $R$-matrix---realized as an intertwiner of cyclic representations of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ at a root of unity---and Shastry's two-parameter $R$-operator obtained from the decorated YBE.

The star-triangle (Yang-Baxter) equation

Barry M. McCoy

Abstract This chapter defines transfer matrices, and the existence of a one-parameter family of commuting transfer matrices is defined as the condition of integrability. The local star-triangle (Yang–Baxter) equation is introduced for vertex, spin, and face models and used to demonstrate the commutation of the transfer matrices. The star-triangle equation is solved for the six-vertex, eight-vertex, SOS, RSOS, hard hexagon, and chiral Potts models. The commutation of the transfer matrix with the related quantum spin chain is derived.

EQUIVALENCE OF S3-INVARIANT LATTICE MODEL AND MODEL OF VERTEX-FACE TYPE

Herman E. Boos

We show that the S3-invariant model proposed in Ref. 2 is equivalent to vertex-face model with two kinds of Boltzmann weights, which appeared to satisfy the generalized Yang-Baxter equation. The more general solution of this equation is constructed in the framework of some appropriate ansatz. This solution depends on the continuous parameter q. The initial model is a particular case of q=±ie∓2π/3i. The integrability of this model is discussed.

Yang-Baxter Relations for Spin Models and Fermion Models

Eugenio Olmedilla, Miki Wadati, Yasuhiro Akutsu

A systematic method to derive the Yang-Baxter relations for the fermion models which are equivalent to the solvable spin models is presented. The method is applied to prove the Yang-Baxter relation and the commutability of the transfer matrices for the one-dimensional Hubbard model.

Exact Integrability of the One-Dimensional Hubbard Model

B. Sriram Shastry

The 1D Hubbard model is shown to be an exactly integrable system. A "covering" model of 2D statistical mechanics which I proposed recently was shown to provide a one-parameter family of transfer matrices, commuting with the Hamiltonian of the Hubbard model. I show in this work that any two transfer matrices of a family commute mutually. At the root of the commutation relation is the ubiquitous Yang-Baxter factorization condition. The form of the $R$ operator is displayed explicitly.

A New Hierarchy of Colored Vertex Models

Tetsuo Deguchi, Yasuhiro Akutsu

We present a new hierarchy of solutions of the colored Yang-Baxter relation. They are generalizations of colored braid matrices with Z N graded symmetry. We explicitly give the Boltzmann weights of the N -state colored vertex models for N =2, 3, and 4. We also discuss the Boltzmann weights for N >4.

A new type of Yang-Baxter equation (YBE) for RRR-operators depending on three spectral parameters is constructed from the star-triangle relation for the chiral Potts model. As the ZNZ_NZN symmetric generalization to the Ising model, its Boltzmann weights are known to depend on two variables describing a curve with genus larger than one for N>2N>2N>2, except for the self-dual point corresponding to the Fateev-Zamolodchikov chain. Combined with the fact that quantum Hamiltonians of edge-type models such as the Ising model contain both nearest-neighbor interaction and onsite potential terms, this leads naturally to an additional spectral parameter in the associated RRR-operator. The construction extends the edge-vertex correspondence of solvable lattice models, and provides a bridge between the Bazhanov-Stroganov four-parameter RRR-matrix---realized as an intertwiner of cyclic representations of Uq(sl2)U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)Uq(sl2) at a root of unity---and Shastry's two-parameter RRR-operator obtained from the decorated YBE.
