Abstract

We study the space of scaling fields in the Z N symmetric models with factorized scattering and propose the simplest algebraic relations between the form factors induced by the action of deformed parafermionic currents. The construction gives a new free field representation for form factors of perturbed Virasoro algebra primary fields, which are parafermionic algebra descendants. We find exact vacuum expectation values of physically important fields and study the correlation functions of order and disorder fields in the form factor and conformal field theories perturbation approaches.

Form Factors and Correlation Functions

Giuseppe Mussardo

Abstract At the heart of a quantum field theory are the correlation functions of the various fields. In the case of integrable models, the correlators can be expressed in terms of the spectral series based on the matrix elements on the asymptotic states. These matrix elements, also known as form factors, satisfy a set of functional and recursive equations that can exactly solved in many cases of physical interest. Chapter 19 covers general properties of form factors, Faddeev–Zamolodchikov algebra, symmetric polynomials, kinematical and bound state poles, the operator space and kernel functions, the stress-energy tensor and vacuum expectation values and the Ising model in a magnetic field.

Algebraic approach to form factors in the complex sinh-Gordon theory

Michael Lashkevich, Yaroslav Pugai

We study form factors of the quantum complex sinh-Gordon theory in the algebraic approach. In the case of exponential fields the form factors can be obtained from the known form factors of the ZN-symmetric Ising model. The algebraic construction also provides an Ansatz for form factors of descendant operators. We obtain generating functions of such form factors and establish their main properties: the cluster factorization and reflection equations.

Systèmes intégrables et Théorie des champs quantiques

O. Lisovyy

A family of interacting local fields, generalizing disorder variables of the 2D Ising model, is constructed from free Dirac fermions on the lattice. We express vacuum expectation values of these fields and form factor expansions of their correlation functions in terms of determinants and inverses of Toeplitz matrices of remarkably simple form. 1

Representations of the Virasoro algebra from lattice models

Koo, W M, Hubert Saleur

We investigate in details how the Virasoro algebra appears in the scaling limit of the simplest lattice models of XXZ or RSOS type. Our approach is straightforward but to our knowledge had never been tried so far. We simply formulate a conjecture for the lattice stress-energy tensor motivated by the exact derivation of lattice global Ward identities. We then check that the proper algebraic relations are obeyed in the scaling limit. The latter is under reasonable control thanks to the Bethe-ansatz solution. The results, which are mostly numerical for technical reasons, are remarkably precise. They are also corroborated by exact pieces of information from various sources, in particular Temperley-Lieb algebra representation theory. Most features of the Virasoro algebra (like central term, null vectors, metric properties...) can thus be observed using the lattice models. This seems of general interest for lattice field theory, and also more specifically for finding relations between conformal invariance and lattice integrability, since basis for the irreducible representations of the Virasoro algebra should now follow (at least in principle) from Bethe-ansatz computations.

Survey on the Conformal Field Theories in two dimensions and Minimal Models

Atlas Çelik

The fundamentals of the conformal symmetry transformations in two dimensions are introduced. From the adapted \textit{Ward identities under conformal constraints}, the \textit{operator product expansion} (OPE) is defined for free fields and the energy momentum tensor (EM). After demonstrating how the energy momentum tensor transforms under conformal invariance, the notion of the \textit{central charge c} is defined. Conformal fields in two dimensions are \textit{radially} quantized on the cylinder within the framework of the second quantization of quantum field theory and are then mapped onto complex plane via a conformal mapping. The \textit{radial ordering} of conformal fields is adopted. The \textit{Virasoro algebra} is derived from the identification of the \textit{conformal generators}, which follow from relations between equal-time commutators and contour integrals of conformal fields. The radial quantization is applied to the free fermionic and bosonic fields, where for the latter the \textit{Vertex operator} is defined and specified. The Fock space of the free boson is constructed through the \textit{operator state correspondence}. Various boundary conditions are applied to free fields, and their effects on the ground-state energy density are detailed, leading to the notion of the \textit{Casimir energy}. The OPEs are regularized for the \textit{interacting} conformal fields, namely the E-M tensor, and the related definition of \textit{normal ordering} is revisited. Utilization of the Virasoro algebra led first to the \textit{descendant states} and subsequently to the \textit{conformal families}. The OPEs are generalized for the conformal families, and it is demonstrated how the three-point function coefficients may be obtained in terms of the two-point functions. The same procedure is employed generically through the definition of the \textit{conformal blocks}. The \textit{conformal Bootstrap method} is introduced to calculate the coefficients of $n$ point functions. The Hilbert space of the conformal fields in two dimensions is formally constructed through the \textit{representation theory of Virasoro algebra}. Accordingly, the reducible and irreducible \textit{Verma modules} are specified. Due to the unitarity requirement of the Hilbert space, the famous \textit{Kac determinant} is introduced to obtain constraints on the inner products of the Verma modules, whence on the \textit{conformal weights} and the central charge. The decoupling of the \textit{null states} from rest of the their conformal families is used to obtain \textit{fusion rules} of the families. The \textit{Kac table} for the constrained conformal weights is constructed, and its analysis under the requirement of unitarity leads to the identification of the \textit{minimal models}. The correspondence between the discrete statistical systems at criticality and the minimal models is studied, where special attention is given on the \textit{Ising model}.

Composite branch-point twist fields in the Ising model and their expectation values

Emanuele Levi

We investigate a particular two-point function of the n -copy Ising model. That is, the correlation function involving the energy field and the branch-point twist field. The latter is associated with the symmetry of the theory under cyclic permutations of its copies. We use a form factor expansion to obtain an exact integral representation of and find its complete short-distance expansion. This allows us to identify all the fields contributing in the short-distance massive OPE of the correlation function under examination, and fix their expectation values, conformal structure constants and massive corrections thereof. Most contributions are given by the composite field and its derivatives. We find all non-vanishing form factors of this latter operator.
