Generalized Matrix Mechanics

Abstract

We propose a generalization of Heisenberg's matrix mechanics based on many-index objects. It is shown that there exists a solution describing a harmonic oscillator and that the many-index objects lead to a generalization of spin algebra.

Cubic Matrices, Generalized Spin Algebra and Uncertainty Relation

Yoshiharu Kawamura A

We propose a generalization of spin algebra using three-index objects. Our results suggest the possibility that a triple commutation relation among three-index objects implies a kind of uncertainty relation involving their expectation values.

A glimpse of matrix mechanics via the harmonic oscillator

Elina Palmgren, Ricardo Karam

In this paper, we provide a glimpse of the original formulation of quantum mechanics (a.k.a. matrix mechanics), as proposed by Heisenberg, Born, and Jordan in 1925, by showing how it solves the quantum harmonic oscillator. This presentation can shed light on the relationship between different formulations and give students a deeper understanding of quantum mechanics.

General Deformation Scheme of Heisenberg-Weyl Algebra

He‐Shan Song, Mill Zhang, Ying An

General deformation schemes for both bosonic and fermionic algebras of harmonic oscillator are studied in terms of explicit matrix representations of basic operators and a restriction relation for deformation function is discussed.
