Abstract

We consider the enhancement of SL(2,R) to Virasoro algebra in a system of N particles on AdS2. We restrict our discussion to the case of non-interacting particles, and argue that they must be treated as fermions. We find operators L_n whose commutators on the ground state, |vac>, satisfy relations that are reminisent of c=1 Virasoro algebra, provided N \geq n \geq -N. Same relations hold also on the states L_{-k}|vac>, if (N-k) \geq n \geq -(N-k). The conditions L_n^†= L_{-n}, and L_k|vac> = 0 for k \geq 1 are also satisfied.

A q-Virasoro algebra at roots of unity, free fermions, and Temperley-Lieb hamiltonians

Alessandro Nigro

In this work, we consider the q-deformation of the Virasoro algebra [M. Chaichian and P. Presnajder, Phys. Lett. B 277, 109 (1992)] expressed in terms of free fermions, and we then realize this algebra, when the deformation parameter is a root of unity, on the lattice in a truncated form in terms of the Clifford algebra of Γ matrices. For this finite size truncation, the commutation relations of the Deformed algebra hold exactly albeit without central extension term. We then study the relations existing between this lattice truncation of the deformed Virasoro algebra at roots of unity and the tower of commuting Temperley-Lieb hamiltonians introduced in a previous work.

Entanglement and geometry from subalgebras of the Virasoro algebra

Paweł Caputa, Dongsheng Ge

Abstract In this work we study families of generalised coherent states constructed from SL(2,R) subalgebras of the Virasoro algebra in two-dimensional conformal field theories. We derive the energy density and entanglement entropy and discuss their equivalence with analogous quantities computed in locally excited states. Moreover, we analyze their dual, holographic geometries and reproduce entanglement entropies from the Ryu-Takayanagi prescription. Finally, we outline possible applications of this universal class of states to operator growth and inhomogeneous quenches.

Perturbation theory of low-dimensional quantum liquids. II. Operator description of Virasoro algebras in integrable systems

J. M. P. Carmelo, A. H. Castro Neto, David K Campbell

We show that the recently developed pseudoparticle-operator algebra which generates the low-energy Hamiltonian eigenstates of multicomponent integrable systems with contact interactions also provides a natural operator representation for the Virasoro algebras associated with the conformal-invariant character of the low-energy spectrum of these models. Studying explicitly the Hubbard chain in a nonzero chemical potential and external magnetic field, we establish that the pseudoparticle-perturbation theory provides a correct starting point for the construction of a suitable critical-point Hamiltonian. We derive explicit expressions in terms of pseudoparticle operators for the generators of the Virasoro algebras and the energy-momentum tensor, describe the conformal-invariant character of the critical point from the point of view of the response to curvature of the two-dimensional space time, and discuss the relation to Kac-Moody algebras and dynamical separation.

Quantum Group and q-Virasoro Symmetries in Fermion Systems

Haru-Tada Sato

We discuss a generalization of the quantum group Uq(sl(2)) to the q-Virasoro algebra in two-dimensional electrons system under uniform magnetic field. It is shown that the integral representations of both algebras are reduced to those in a (1 + 1)-dimensional fermion. As an application of the quantum group symmetry, we discuss a model of quantum group current on the analogy of the Hall current.

Symmetries near the horizon

Henry W. Lin

We consider a nearly-AdS_2 gravity theory on the two-sided wormhole geometry. We construct three gauge-invariant operators in NAdS_2 which move bulk matter relative to the dynamical boundaries. In a two-sided system, these operators satisfy an SL(2) algebra (up to non perturbative corrections). In a semiclassical limit, these generators act like SL(2) transformations of the boundary time, or conformal symmetries of the two sided boundary theory. These can be used to define an operator-state mapping. A particular large N and low temperature limit of the SYK model has precisely the same structure, and this construction of the exact generators also applies. We also discuss approximate, but simpler, constructions of the generators in the SYK model. These are closely related to the “size” operator and are connected to the maximal chaos behavior captured by out of time order correlators.
