Abstract

This is the abstract of the revised paper. The integrable XXZ model with a special open boundary condition is considered. We study Sklyanin transfer matrices after quantum group reduction in roots of unity. In this case Sklyanin transfer matrices satisfy a closed system of truncated functional equations. The algebraic reason for the truncation is found. The important role in proving of the result is performed by Zamolodchikov algebra introduced in the paper.

Correspondence between theXXZmodel in roots of unity and the one-dimensional quantum Ising chain with different boundary conditions

Francisco Castilho Alcaraz, A A Belavin, R A Usmanov

We consider the integrable XXZ model with special open boundary conditions that renders its Hamiltonian SU (2) q symmetric, and the one-dimensional quantum Ising model with four different boundary conditions. We show that for each boundary condition the Ising quantum chain is given exactly by the minimal model of integrable lattice theory LM (3,4). This theory is obtained as the result of the quantum group reduction of the XXZ model at anisotropy Δ = ( q + q -1 )/2 = (2) 1/2 /2, with a number of sites that depends on the type of imposed boundary condition.

Boundary transfer matrices and boundary quantum KZ equations

Bart Vlaar

A simple relation between inhomogeneous transfer matrices and boundary quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov (KZ) equations is exhibited for quantum integrable systems with reflecting boundary conditions, analogous to an observation by Gaudin for periodic systems. Thus, the boundary quantum KZ equations receive a new motivation. We also derive the commutativity of Sklyanin’s boundary transfer matrices by merely imposing appropriate reflection equations, in particular without using the conditions of crossing symmetry and unitarity of the R-matrix.

Truncation identities for the small polaron fusion hierarchy

André M Grabinski, Holger Frahm

We study a one-dimensional lattice model of interacting spinless fermions. This model is integrable for both periodic and open boundary conditions; the latter case includes the presence of Grassmann valued non-diagonal boundary fields breaking the bulk U (1) symmetry of the model. Starting from the embedding of this model into a graded Yang–Baxter algebra, an infinite hierarchy of commuting transfer matrices is constructed by means of a fusion procedure. For certain values of the coupling constant related to anisotropies of the underlying vertex model taken at roots of unity, this hierarchy is shown to truncate giving a finite set of functional equations for the spectrum of the transfer matrices. For generic coupling constants, the spectral problem is formulated in terms of a functional (or TQ-)equation which can be solved by Bethe ansatz methods for periodic and diagonal open boundary conditions. Possible approaches for the solution of the model with generic non-diagonal boundary fields are discussed.

FUSION HIERARCHY AND FINITE-SIZE CORRECTIONS OF Uq[sl(2)] INVARIANT VERTEX MODELS WITH OPEN BOUNDARIES

The fused six-vertex models with open boundary conditions are studied. The Bethe ansatz solution given by Sklyanin has been generalized to the transfer matrices of the fused models. We have shown that the eigenvalues of transfer matrices satisfy a group of functional relations, which are the su(2) fusion rule held by the transfer matrices of the fused models. The fused transfer matrices form a commuting family and also commute with the quantum group Uq[sl(2)]. In the case of the parameter qh = −1 (h = 4,5, · · ·) the functional relations in the limit of spectral parameter u → i ∞ are truncated. This shows that the su(2) fusion rule with finite level appears for the six vertex model with the open boundary conditions. We have solved the functional relations to obtain the finite-size corrections of the fused transfer matrices for low-lying excitations. From the corrections the central charges and conformal weights of underlying conformal field theory are extracted. To see different boundary conditions we also have studied the six-vertex model with a twisted boundary condition. hep-th/9502053; to appear in NPB. 1

Bethe Ansatz from functional relations of open XXZ chain for new special cases

Rajan Murgan, Rafael I. Nepomechie

The transfer matrix of the general integrable open XXZ quantum spin chain obeys certain functional relations at roots of unity. By exploiting these functional relations, we determine the Bethe Ansatz solution for the transfer matrix eigenvalues for the special cases that all but one of the boundary parameters are zero, and the bulk anisotropy parameter is i\\pi/3, i\\pi/5 ,...

Exact spectrum of the XXZ open spin chain from theq-Onsager algebra representation theory

Pascal Baseilhac, Kozo Koizumi

The transfer matrix of the XXZ open spin-½ chain with general integrable boundary conditions and generic anisotropy parameter ( q is not a root of unity and | q | = 1) is diagonalized using the representation theory of the q -Onsager algebra. Similarly to the Ising and superintegrable chiral Potts models, the complete spectrum is expressed in terms of the roots of a characteristic polynomial of degree d = 2 N . The complete family of eigenstates are derived in terms of rational functions defined on a discrete support which satisfy a system of coupled recurrence relations. In the special case of linear relations between left and right boundary parameters for which Bethe-type solutions are known to exist, our analysis provides an alternative derivation of the results of Nepomechie et al and Cao et al . In the latter case the complete family of eigenvalues and eigenstates splits into two sets, each associated with a characteristic polynomial of degree d < 2 N . Numerical checks performed for small values of N support the analysis.
