Exact solution of quasi two and three dimensional quantum spin models

Abstract

A class of quasi two and three dimensional quantum lattice spin models with nearest and next nearest neighbour interactions is proposed. The basic idea of construction is to introduce interactions in an array of XXZ spin chains through twisting transformation. The models belong to quantum integrable systems allowing explicit R-matrix solution. The eigenvalue problem can be solved exactly using some symmetry of the models.

Construction of quasi-two- and higher-dimensional quantum integrable models

Anjan Kundu

A class of quantum integrable quasi-two- and higher-dimensional quantum spin as well as strongly correlated electron systems with localized interactions are proposed. The basic idea of construction is to introduce interchain interactions in an array of spin chains or one-dimensional Hubbard models through twisting transformation. The models allow explicit quantum R-matrix, Lax operator, and exact eigenvalue solution.

Exact solution of an integrable quantum spin chain with competing interactions*

Jian Wang, Yi Qiao, Junpeng Cao +1 more

We construct an integrable quantum spin chain that includes the nearest-neighbor, next-nearest-neighbor, chiral three-spin couplings, Dzyloshinsky–Moriya interactions and unparallel boundary magnetic fields. Although the interactions in bulk materials are isotropic, the spins nearby the boundary fields are polarized, which induce the anisotropic exchanging interactions of the first and last bonds. The U(1) symmetry of the system is broken because of the off-diagonal boundary reflections. Using the off-diagonal Bethe ansatz, we obtain an exact solution to the system. The inhomogeneous T–Q relation and Bethe ansatz equations are given explicitly. We also calculate the ground state energy. The method given in this paper provides a general way to construct new integrable models with certain interesting interactions.

Exact solution of an integrable anisotropic J 1 − J 2 spin chain model

Yi Qiao, Pei Sun, Zhirong Xin +2 more

Abstract An integrable anisotropic Heisenberg spin chain with nearest-neighbour couplings, next-nearest-neighbour couplings and scalar chirality terms is constructed. After proving the integrability, we obtain the exact solution of the system. The ground state and the elementary excitations are also studied. It is shown that the spinon excitation of the present model possesses a novel triple arched structure. The elementary excitation is gapless if the anisotropic parameter is real while the elementary excitation has an enhanced gap by the next-nearest-neighbour and chiral three-spin interactions if the anisotropic parameter is imaginary. The method of this paper provides a general way to construct integrable models with next-nearest-neighbour interactions.

Exact solution of an anisotropic J 1 – J 2 model with the Dzyloshinsky–Moriya interactions at boundaries

Yusong Cao, Jian Wang, Yi Qiao +2 more

Abstract We propose a method to construct new quantum integrable models. As an example, we construct an integrable anisotropic quantum spin chain which includes the nearest-neighbor, next-nearest-neighbor and chiral three-spin couplings. It is shown that the boundary fields can enhance the anisotropy of the first and last bonds, and can induce the Dzyloshinsky–Moriya interactions along the z -direction at the boundaries. By using the algebraic Bethe ansatz, we obtain the exact solution of the system. The energy spectrum of the system and the associated Bethe ansatz equations are given explicitly. The method provided in this paper is universal and can be applied to constructing other exactly solvable models with certain interesting interactions.

The Temperley-Lieb-Jones Algebra and Symmetry Group in Heisenberg Spin Models in One and Two Dimensions

Shao-Ming Fei, Hong Yan

We present a systematic method to construct the spin models of Heisenberg type in higher dimensions with nearest and non-nearest neighbour interactions. These models constructed in this way are of Temperley-Lieb-Jones (TLJ) algebraic structures and -invariances. The TLJ algebra is generalized to adjusting the lattice spin models. The Hamiltonians of Heisenberg spin models in one dimension (including second nearest neighbour interactions) and in two-dimensional triangular lattice (with nearest interaction) are constructed explicitly. The hidden symmetries are shown to be the group, and the terms in Hamiltonian for different lattice cells are explicitly shown to be the representations of elements of (TLJ) algebra.

Integrable quantum spin chains

Anastasia Doikou

Integrable quantum spin chains are exactly solvable quantum mechanical models of N quantum spins, of which the Heisenberg model solved by Bethe is the prototype. In the antiferromagnetic regime, such spin chains can be regarded as lattice versions of corresponding integrable relativistic quantum field theories. For integrable spin chains, quantities of physical interest (spectrum, S matrix, etc.) can be calculated exactly by direct means, starting from the microscopic Hamiltonian, while for the corresponding field theories, such exact information has been primarily obtained by indirect means, such as the “ bootstrap ” approach and semiclassical approximations. We have been focused basically on the Heisenberg XXX and XXZ chains and their generalizations. Basic aims of this work were the study of the symmetries of these models and the computation, by means of Bethe ansatz equations, of the bulk and boundary S matrices for the closed and open chains respectively...
