Abstract

We study the site-diluted Ising model in two dimensions with Monte Carlo simulations. Using finite-size scaling techniques we compute the critical exponents observing deviations from the pure Ising ones. The differences can be explained as the effects of logarithmic corrections, without requiring us to change the universality class.

The four dimensional site-diluted Ising model: a finite-size scaling study

H.G. Ballesteros, L. A. Fernández, Víctor Martín-Mayor +4 more

Using finite-size scaling techniques, we study the critical properties of the site-diluted Ising model in four dimensions. We carry out a high-statistics Monte Carlo simulation for several values of the dilution. The results support the perturbative scenario: there is only the Ising fixed point with large logarithmic scaling corrections. We obtain, using the Perturbative Renormalization Group, functional forms for the scaling of several observables that are in agreement with the numerical data.

Critical exponents of the three-dimensional diluted Ising model

H.G. Ballesteros, L. A. Fernández, Víctor Martín-Mayor +3 more

We study the phase diagram of the site-diluted Ising model in a wide dilution range, through Monte Carlo simulations and finite-size scaling techniques. Our results for the critical exponents and universal cumulants turn out to be dilution independent, but only after a proper infinite volume extrapolation, taking into account the leading corrections-to-scaling terms.

Universality class of the two-dimensional site-diluted Ising model

P. H. L. Martins, J. A. Plascak

In this work, we evaluate the probability distribution function of the order parameter for the two-dimensional site-diluted Ising model. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations have been performed for different spin concentrations p (0.70<or=p<or=1) on square lattices with linear sizes L (20<or=L<or=100). The results indicate that the universality class of the diluted Ising model seems to be independent of the amount of dilution. Logarithmic corrections of the finite-size critical temperature behavior of the model can also be inferred even for such small lattices.

Site-diluted three-dimensional Ising model with long-range correlated disorder

H.G. Ballesteros, Giorgio Parisi A

We present numerical simulations of the site-diluted Ising model in three dimensions in the presence of two different forms of quenched disorder with long-range correlations. We use finite-size scaling techniques to compute the critical exponents of these two systems, taking into account the strong corrections to scaling. We find a value of the critical exponent \ensuremath{\nu} that is compatible with the analytical predictions.

The universality class of 3D site-diluted and bond-diluted Ising systems

Martin Hasenbusch B, Francesco Parisen Toldin, Andrea Pelissetto C +1 more

We present a finite-size scaling analysis of high-statistics Monte Carlo simulations of the three-dimensional randomly site-diluted and bond-diluted Ising model. The critical behaviour of these systems is affected by slowly decaying scaling corrections which make the accurate determination of their universal asymptotic behaviour quite hard, requiring an effective control of the scaling corrections. For this purpose we exploit improved Hamiltonians, for which the leading scaling corrections are suppressed for any thermodynamic quantity, and improved observables, for which the leading scaling corrections are suppressed for any model belonging to the same universality class. The results of the finite-size scaling analysis provide strong numerical evidence that phase transitions in three-dimensional randomly site-diluted and bond-diluted Ising models belong to the same randomly dilute Ising universality class. We obtain accurate estimates of the critical exponents, ν = 0.683(2), η = 0.036(1), α = −0.049(6), γ = 1.341(4), β = 0.354(1), δ = 4.792(6), and of the leading and next-to-leading correction-to-scaling exponents, ω = 0.33(3) and ω 2 = 0.82(8).

Crossover and self-averaging in the two-dimensional site-diluted Ising model: Application of probability-changing cluster algorithm

Yusuke Tomita, Yutaka Okabe

Using the newly proposed probability-changing cluster (PCC) Monte Carlo algorithm, we simulate the two-dimensional (2D) site-diluted Ising model. Since we can tune the critical point of each random sample automatically with the PCC algorithm, we succeed in studying the sample-dependent T(c)(L) and the sample average of physical quantities at each T(c)(L) systematically. Using the finite-size scaling (FSS) analysis for T(c)(L), we discuss the importance of corrections to FSS both in the strong-dilution and weak-dilution regions. The critical phenomena of the 2D site-diluted Ising model are shown to be controlled by the pure fixed point. The crossover from the percolation fixed point to the pure Ising fixed point with the system size is explicitly demonstrated by the study of the Binder parameter. We also study the distribution of critical temperature T(c)(L). Its variance shows the power-law L dependence, L(-n), and the estimate of the exponent n is consistent with the prediction of Aharony and Harris [Phys. Rev. Lett. 77, 3700 (1996)]. Calculating the relative variance of critical magnetization at the sample-dependent T(c)(L), we show that the 2D site-diluted Ising model exhibits weak self-averaging.
