In a recent letter -Phys. Rev. Lett. 73, 3331 (1995)-, the conclusion was reached that, in the one-dimensional Calogero model, only the second virial coefficient is affected by the statistical parameter
α, where
α is related to the coupling constant
κ/xij2 of the Calogero interaction by
κ=α(α+1). We argue that it is not so, i.e. all virial coefficients are affected, if the thermodynamic limit is properly taken.
One-dimensional fractional statistics is studied using the Calogero-Sutherland model (CSM) which describes a system of non-relativistic quantum particles interacting with inverse-square two-body potential on a ring.The inversesquare exchange can be regarded as a pure statistical interaction and this system can be mapped to an ideal gas obeying the fractional exclusion and exchange statistics.The details of the exact calculations of the dynamical correlation functions for this ideal system is presented in this paper.An effective low-energy one-dimensional "anyon" model is constructed; and its correlation functions are found to be in agreement with those in the CSM; and this agreement provides an evidence for the equivalence of the first-and the second-quantized construction of the 1D anyon model at least in the long wave-length limit.Furthermore, the finite-size scaling applicable to the conformally invariant systems is used to obtain the complete set of correlation exponents for the CSM.
We analytically calculate some thermodynamic quantities of an ideal
g-on gas obeying generalized exclusion statistics. We show that the specific heat of a
g-on gas (
g=0) vanishes linearly in any dimension as
T→0 when the particle number is conserved and exhibits an interesting dual symmetry that relates the particle-statistics at
g to the hole-statistics at
1/g at low temperatures. We derive the complete solution for the cluster coefficients
bl(g) as a function of Haldane's statistical interaction
g in
D dimensions. We also find that the cluster coefficients
bl(g) and the virial coefficients
al(g) are exactly mirror symmetric (
l=odd) or antisymmetric (
l=even) about
g=1/2. In two dimensions, we completely determine the closed forms about the cluster and the virial coefficients of the generalized exclusion statistics, which exactly agree with the virial coefficients of an anyon gas of linear energies. We show that the
g-on gas with zero chemical potential shows thermodynamic properties similar to the photon statistics. We discuss some physical implications of our results.
One-dimensional model of nonrelativistic particles with inverse-square interaction potential known as the Calogero-Sutherland model is shown to possess fractional statistics. Using the theory of Jack polynomials the exact dynamical density-density correlation function and the hole propagator part of one-particle Green's function at any rational interaction coupling constant are obtained and used to show clear evidences of the fractional exclusion statistics in the sense of Haldane's "generalized Pauli exclusion principle." This model is also endowed with the corresponding natural exchange statistics.
We consider N particles interacting pairwise by an inverse square potential in one dimension (Calogero–Sutherland–Moser model). For a system placed in a harmonic trap, its classical partition function for the repulsive regime is recognised in the literature. We start by presenting a concise re-derivation of this result. The equation of state is then calculated both for the trapped and the homogeneous gas. Finally, the classical limit of Wu's distribution function for fractional exclusion statistics is obtained and we re-derive the classical virial expansion of the homogeneous gas using this distribution function.
The thermodynamics of two-species gases described by the Haldane exclusion statistics is investigated. I use the high-temperature perturbation to find the third Virial coefficient for the gas in an arbitrary dimension. The perturbative result indicates that the two-dimensional thermodynamic potential becomes the linear function of the element of the Haldane statistics matrix, if the matrix is symmetric and particle mass is species independent. I also present a nonperturbative method to prove this factorizable property and an exact expression of the thermodynamic potential is suggested.
