Abstract

We investigate the excitation spectrum of a model of N colour fermions with correlated hopping which can be solved by a nested Bethe ansatz. The gapless excitations of particle-hole type are calculated as well as the spin-wave like excitations which have a gap. Using general predictions of conformal field theory the long distance behaviour of some ground state correlation functions are derived from a finite-size analysis of the gapless excitations. From the algebraic decay we show that for increasing particle density the correlation of so-called N-multiplets of particles dominates over the density-density correlation. This indicates the presence of bound complexes of these N-multiplets. This picture is also supported by the calculation of the effective mass of charge carriers.

Critical exponents for a one-dimensional model of fermions with correlated hopping

Igor N. Karnaukhov

We calculate the asymptotics of correlation functions for the one-dimensional model of fermions with correlated hopping recently proposed by the author. The method of calculation is based on predictions of conformal field theory, the Bethe ansatz solutions, and a finite-size analysis of the gapless excitations. The critical exponents are given in terms of dressed charge matrix. Components of this matrix are solutions of a set of integral equations obtained from the Bethe ansatz. The effective transport mass is calculated for an arbitrary band filling.

Thermodynamics of an integrable model for electrons with correlated hopping

Gerald Bedürftig, Holger Frahm

A new supersymmetric model for electrons with generalized hopping terms and Hubbard interaction on a one-dimensional lattice is solved by means of the Bethe ansatz. We investigate the phase diagram of this model by studying the ground state and excitations of the model as a function of the interaction parameter, electronic density and magnetization. Using arguments from conformal field theory we can study the critical exponents describing the asymptotic behaviour of correlation functions at long distances.

Edge singularities in the one-dimensional Bariev model

P. Schlottmann

Bariev's model for correlated hopping in one dimension is integrable and soluble within the framework of two nested Bethe Ansätze. For repulsive interaction and finite magnetization the low energy excitation spectrum is a two-component Luttinger liquid with conformal charges c=1. In zero magnetic field the spectrum of spin excitations is gapped. For higher energy excitations the single-hole (single-particle) spectral functions display edge singularities that deviate from those expected from a Luttinger liquid. The system can be described as a mobile impurity coupled to the Luttinger liquid yielding an effective x-ray edge type model. Using the Bethe Ansatz solution for repulsive interaction we obtain expressions for the critical exponents for the single-particle and single-hole Green's functions in zero magnetic field.

General finite-size effects for zero-entropy states in one-dimensional quantum integrable models

Sebas Eliëns, Jean-Sébastien Caux

Abstract We present a general derivation of the spectrum of excitations for gapless states of zero entropy density in Bethe ansatz solvable models. Our formalism is valid for an arbitrary choice of bare energy function which is relevant to situations where the Hamiltonian for time evolution differs from the Hamiltonian in a (generalized) Gibbs ensemble, i.e. out of equilibrium. The energy of particle and hole excitations, as measured with the time-evolution Hamiltonian, is shown to include additional contributions stemming from the shifts of the Fermi points that may now have finite energy. The finite-size effects are also derived and the connection with conformal field theory discussed. The critical exponents can still be obtained from the finite-size spectrum, however the velocity occurring here differs from the one in the constant Casimir term. The derivation highlights the importance of the phase shifts at the Fermi points for the critical exponents of asymptotes of correlations. We generalize certain results known for the ground state and discuss the relation to the dressed charge (matrix). Finally, we discuss the finite-size corrections in the presence of an additional particle or hole, which are important for dynamical correlation functions.

Superconducting correlation in the one-dimensionalt-Jmodel with anisotropic spin interaction

J Shiraishi, Yoshifumi Morita, Mahito Kohmoto

A variant of the one-dimensional t-J model with anisotropic spin interaction is studied by the nested algebraic Bethe ansatz method. The gapless charge excitations and the gapful spin excitations are obtained. It is shown that the singlet-superconducting correlation dominates in the low-density region by applying the finite-size scaling analysis in the conformal field theory.

Integrable fermion model with hopping integrals for many-particle configurations

Igor N. Karnaukhov

One parametric one-dimensional spinless fermion model is formulated and solved exactly by the Bethe ansatz method. The Hamiltonian contains the kinetic terms describing nearest-neighbor hopping of electrons with different hopping integrals for many-particle configurations. The Luttinger liquid behavior is studied for the case repulsion effective interaction. The ground-state energy, the critical exponent, describing the asymptotic behavior of the density-density correlation function at long distances, the Fermi velocity have been calculated numerically for an arbitrary density of electrons. The model displays the condensation of particles in the case of the attractive interaction.
