Coherently controlled entanglement generation in a binary Bose-Einstein condensate

Abstract

Considering a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate in a double-well potential, a method to generate a Bell state consisting of two spatially separated condensates is suggested. For repulsive interactions, the required tunnelling control is achieved numerically by varying the amplitude of a sinusoidal potential difference between the wells. Both numerical and analytical calculations reveal the emergence of a highly entangled mesoscopic state.

Generation of mesoscopic superpositions of a binary Bose-Einstein condensate in a slightly asymmetric double well

Christoph Weiß, Niklas Teichmann

A previous publication [1] suggested to coherently generate mesoscopic superpositions of a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate in a double well under perfectly symmetric conditions. However, already tiny asymmetries can destroy the entanglement properties of the ground state. Nevertheless, even under more realistic conditions, the scheme is demonstrated numerically to generate mesoscopic superpositions.

Coherent control of mesoscopic tunneling in a Bose-Einstein condensate

Christoph Weiß, Tharanga Jinasundera

For a weakly interacting Bose-Einstein condensate in a double well, an appropriate time-dependent modulation of the trapping potential counteracts the ``self-trapping'' effects of the interactions, thereby allowing tunneling between the wells. It is demonstrated numerically that this modulation can be employed for transferring the condensate from one well to the other in a controlled way. Moreover it allows the production of mesoscopic entangled states on short time scales.

Generation of Bell states in two-component Bose–Einstein condensates

Zhang Guo-Feng, Yin Wen, Liang Jiu-Qing +1 more

We examine analytically the generation of Bell state in Bose condensates of two interacting species trapped in a double well configuration. The density of probability for finding the entangled Bell state is given. The effect of the tunnelling rate and the interspecies interaction strength on the generation of Bell state is discussed. We find that the oscillation amplitude of the density of probability for finding the entangled Bell state becomes greater as the tunnelling rate Ω increases and the self-interaction strength of the component A(B) has no effect on it.

Quantum-correlated double-well tunneling of two-component Bose-Einstein condensates

H. T. Ng, C. K. Law, P. T. Leung

We investigate a double-well tunneling process in Bose condensates of two interacting species. We show that particles of different species can tunnel as pairs through the potential barrier between the two wells in opposite directions. Such a correlated motion of tunneling atoms leads to the generation of quantum entanglement between two macroscopically coherent systems. The strong correlations are manifested in the particle number sum and the phase difference variables.

Generation of maximally entangled states in a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate

Wei Wei

We study analytically the generation of maximally entangled states (MESs) formed by a two-component Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC) trapped in an adiabatically driven single potential well. Under the condition of the linear interaction controlled by a driven field being much stronger than the effective nonlinear interaction between the components, MESs, as some particular cases of superpositions of spin coherent states (SSCS), may emerge periodically along with not only time evolution but also the equidifferent change of the linear coupling strength at a particular time.

Steady-state entanglement in a double-well Bose-Einstein condensate through coupling to a superconducting resonator

H. T. Ng, Shih‐I Chu

We consider a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate in a double-well potential, where the atoms are magnetically coupled to a single mode of the microwave field inside a superconducting resonator. We find that the system has different dark-state subspaces in the strong- and weak-tunneling regimes. In the limit of weak tunnel coupling, steady-state entanglement between the two spatially separated condensates can be generated by evolving to a mixture of dark states via the dissipation of the photon field. We show that the entanglement can be faithfully indicated by an entanglement witness. Long-lived entangled states are useful for quantum-information processing with atom-chip devices.
