Resonances in a trapped 3D Bose–Einstein condensate under periodically varying atomic scattering length

F. Kh. Abdullaev, R. M. Galimzyanov, Marijana Brtka +1 more

Nonlinear oscillations of a 3D radial symmetric Bose-Einstein condensate under periodic variation in time of the atomic scattering length have been studied analytically and numerically. The time-dependent variational approach is used for the analysis of the characteristics of nonlinear resonances in the oscillations of the condensate. The bistability in oscillations of the BEC width is invistigated. The dependence of the BEC collapse threshold on the drive amplitude and parameters of the condensate and trap is found. Predictions of the theory are confirmed by numerical simulations of the full Gross-Pitaevski equation.

Self-Trapping of Two Weakly Coupled Bose–Einstein Condensates with Oscillating Atomic Scattering Length

Qiongtao Xie

We investigate the self-tapping phenomena for two weakly coupled Bose–Einstein condensates with a rapid periodic modulation of the atomic scattering length. By using an averaging method, the equations of motion of the slow dynamics are derived to analyze the self-trapping behavior. It is shown numerically that under certain conditions, an alternative self-trapping in either well appears.

Dynamics of Bright/Dark Solitons in Bose–Einstein Condensates with Time-Dependent Scattering Length and External Potential

Ai‐Xia Zhang, Xue Ju-Kui

We present an analytical study on the dynamics of bright and dark solitons in Bose–Einstein condensates with time-varying atomic scattering length in a time-varying external parabolic potential. A set of exact soliton solutions of the one-dimensional Gross–Pitaevskii equation are obtained, including fundamental bright solitons, higher-order bright solitons, and dark solitons. The results show that the soliton's parameters (amplitude, width, and period) can be changed in a controllable manner by changing the scattering length and external potential. This may be helpful to design experiments.
