Abstract

Phase diagram of a symmetric vertex model which allows 7 vertex configurations is obtained by use of the corner transfer matrix renormalization group (CTMRG), which is a variant of the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG). The critical indices of this model are identified as $β= 1/8$ and $α= 0$.

Critical Point of a Symmetric Vertex Model

Kouji Ueda, 両太 大谷, Yukinobu Nishio +2 more

We study a symmetric vertex model, that allows 10 vertex configurations, by use of the corner transfer matrix renormalization group (CTMRG), a variant of DMRG. The model has a critical point that belongs to the Ising universality class.

Corner Transfer Matrix Renormalization Group Method

Tomotoshi Nishino, Kouichi Okunishi

We propose a new fast numerical renormalization group method, the corner transfer matrix renormalization group (CTMRG) method, which is based on a unified scheme of Baxter's corner transfer matrix method and White's density matrix renormalization groupmethod. The key point is that a product of four corner transfer matrices gives the densitymatrix. We formulate the CTMRG method as a renormalization of 2D classical models.

A corner transfer matrix renormalisation group investigation of the vertex-interacting self-avoiding walk model

Damien Paul Foster, C. Pinettes

A recently introduced extension of the Corner Transfer Matrix Renormalisation Group (CTMRG) method useful for the study of self-avoiding walk type models is presented in detail and applied to a class of interacting self-avoiding walks due to Blöte and Nienhuis. This model displays two different types of collapse transition depending on model parameters. One is the standard $θ$-point transition. The other is found to give rise to a first-order collapse transition despite being known to be in other respects critical.

Density-matrix renormalization group for the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition of the 19-vertex model

Yasushi Honda, Tsuyoshi Horiguchi

We embody the density-matrix renormalization-group (DMRG) method for the 19-vertex model on a square lattice in order to investigate the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition. Elements of the transfer matrix of the 19-vertex model are classified in terms of the total value of arrows in one layer of the square lattice. By using this classification, we succeed in reducing enormously the dimension of the matrix that has to be diagonalized in the DMRG method. We apply our method to the 19-vertex model with the interaction $K=1.0866$ and obtain $c=1.006(1)$ for the conformal anomaly.

Critical properties of the eight-vertex model in a field

Roman Krčmár, Ladislav Šamaj

The general eight-vertex model on a square lattice is studied numerically by using the Corner Transfer Matrix Renormalization Group method. The method is tested on the symmetric (zero-field) version of the model, the obtained dependence of critical exponents on model's parameters is in agreement with Baxter's exact solution and weak universality is verified with a high accuracy. It was suggested long time ago that the symmetric eight-vertex model is a special exceptional case and in the presence of external fields the eight-vertex model falls into the Ising universality class. We confirm numerically this conjecture in a subspace of vertex weights, except for two specific combinations of vertical and horizontal fields for which the system still exhibits weak universality.

Classical Transfer Matrix Renormalization

Tao Xiang

This chapter introduces two kinds of RG methods for solving the leading eigenvalue and eigenvectors of a transfer matrix: TMRG (transfer matrix renormalization group) and CTMRG (corner transfer matrix renormalization group). These methods are developed to study the thermodynamic properties of two-dimensional classical statistical models. Furthermore, in the framework of MPS, the fixed-point equations of these methods are derived, and the steps for efficiently solving these equations are outlined.
