Linking Physics and Psychology of Bistable Perception Using an Eye Blink Inspired Quantum Harmonic Oscillator Model

Ivan S. Maksymov, Ganna Pogrebna

This paper introduces a novel quantum-mechanical model that describes psychological phenomena using the analogy of a harmonic oscillator represented by an electron trapped in a potential well. Study 1 demonstrates the application of the proposed model to bistable perception of ambiguous figures (i.e., optical illusions), exemplified by the Necker cube. While prior research has theoretically linked quantum mechanics to psychological phenomena, in Study 2 we demonstrate a viable physiological connection between physics and bistable perception. To that end, the model draws parallels between quantum tunneling of an electron through a potential energy barrier and an eye blink, an action known to trigger perceptual reversals. Finally, we discuss the ability of the model to capture diverse optical illusions and other psychological phenomena, including cognitive dissonance.

The Consciousness Co-Screen Cosmology Based on Exchange and Distinguishability: A Unified Framework for Quantum Phenomena, Cosmic Expansion, Free Will, and the Illusion of Awakening

lichao

This paper proposes a novel ontological framework: exchange is the most fundamental operation of the universe, distinguishability is the necessary condition for exchange to occur, and the universe as a whole is a giant consciousness system (analogous to the Tathāgatagarbha in Buddhism, the Tao in Daoism, or God in the West) that implements dynamic resolution of distinguishability through "co-screen unfolding." Time is not a global background but a self-property of each system; it only manifests sequence and causality when consciousnesses become co-frequency. Space is the compression of residual degrees of freedom after the system automatically identifies a large number of identical particles as "the same one." The double-slit experiment, quantum entanglement, cosmic expansion, the illusion of free will, and awakening itself all emerge naturally from this framework without extra assumptions. The paper also introduces the "House Metaphor" to illustrate that all truths, histories, and memories are changing causal references that ultimately point to a larger illusion system. The framework self-consistently explains why modern science has hit a dead end and reveals the underlying mechanisms of "hope exhaustion" and the explosion of short videos in the age of information transparency.
