How Rubbing With a Microfiber Manage to Shatter the Windshield?

Abstract

I learned that interaction with microfiber and the material of certain windshield creates some specific style of resonance that would then shatter that material. This brings to mind opera sopranos shattering wine glasses. Why should one build complex new physics scenarios for how sopranos manage to break wine glasses? Hasn't this been understood a long time ago. But is this really the case? We are used to thinking that physics somehow mysteriously transforms from quantum to classical on some scale. Quantum coherence, which is not possible above atomic scales, would be replaced by classical coherence on long scales. If this is assumed, glass-breaking sopranos cease to look mysterious. This thinking has actually no justifications but only restates what is a fact. When you give this thinking up, the imagined self-evidences collapse. Phenomena that were undeniably a bit strange become impossible. In TGD, a new view of spacetime comes to rescue. The spacetime surface defines the coherence region in both classical and quantum sense. Field bodies make long-scale quantum coherence and classical coherence, possible. Space-time surface defines the coherence region. Classical and quantal long-scale coherence would be related to classical long-range gravitational and electromagnetic fields. Gravitational and em Planck's constants, whose values can be enormous compared to h, quantify the hypothesis. This windshield effect is just one example of many. The proposed TGD based model for the phenomenon relies on gravitational quantum coherence predicted to be possible in astrophysical scales and also possible quantum criticality. The gravitational magnetic bodies of both the Sun and Earth are assumed to play a key role. The reason is that macroscopic quantum coherence requires very large values of the effective Planck constant. It is assumed that the gravitational Compton frequency of the Sun defines a gravitational quantum coherence scale and sets a lower bound for the frequencies assignable to the acoustic oscillations inducing the instability of the windshield . One can also consider other mechanisms of macroscopic quantum coherence. Cyclotron frequencies for the endogenous magnetic field of Earth are in EEG range and would correspond to energies above thermal energy and play a key role in the TGD inspired quantum biology and might be involved with the microfibers. This would require transformation of dark cyclotron radiation to sound waves and require a ferro electret property typical for organic materials. Quantum criticality making possible a generation of large heffphases is involved and warping deformations possible for planar or nearly planar systems are considered as a possible realization of the quantum criticality.

Quantum Mechanics & General Relativity are compatible, and have a common origin: the expanding (hyper) balloon universe

Please download the paper and then read the abstract (since crucial formulas are not appearing in this window, and also hyperlinks are not working). This is just a brief overview: Relativity is inside the light cone phenomena, while Quantum Mechanics is outside the light cone phenomena, dictated just by the scale (i.e. whether we use classical/human scale or sub-atomic scale). This recent paper [ ‘ Quantum principle of relativity’; Andrzej Dragan, Artur Ekert, New. J. Phys. 22 (2020) 033098] has shown that every exotic Quantum effect like superposition, entanglement, probabilistic behavior, multiple paths etc. can be explained just by allowing super-luminal possibility. The 'inside the light cone' phenomena, and the 'outside the light cone' phenomena together span the entire region within the space and time axes. Only in unison they complete the entire picture. We failed to realize that the same spacetime is getting split into 'space like' and 'time like’ regions based on scale. And the reason behind this is not the magical ( ? ) speed of light. That would have turned both relativity and quantum mechanics into mere branches of electromagnetism. The true reason is much deeper and at a very fundamental level of our universe. It turns out that the c is the radial expansion velocity of our universe. But why does the transition from Relativity to Quantum Mechanics happens with decreasing size scale? That’s because, this is what is happens to spatial and temporal dimensions at different scales: 3+1 (Classical regime) <=> 2+2 (Compton regime) <=> 1+3 (Planck regime). Just as space and time exchange roles at the event horizon of a Black Hole, similarly, spatial and temporal dimensions switch roles for extremely small scales (although due to a completely different mechanism). Why this happens is difficult to expalin without the true model of our universe. But, once explained, it becomes "Why didn't I think about it before? I was plain silly!" From the center of universe viewpoint, simultaneity is absolute (as demanded by Sagnac effect), and there is indeed absolute universal time (as demanded by quantum mechanics). From our viewpoint (located at an awkward position in the universe), locality is absolute, and velocity c is the upper limit, and remains constant for every observer. This turns (our) space and time into inseparable twins, and makes (our) time a relative concept. This solves the time problem which had so stubbornly resisted the reconciliation of Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity. Quantum Mechanics and Special Relativity are like two sides of the same coin. But understanding the relation between Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity is a bit tricky, because according to General Relativity, gravity is the warping/curvature of the 4 dimensional spacetime itself. At first sight, Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity seem to be utterly incompatible! But actually, Special Relativity’s big brother General Relativity only complicates things a bit, but does not become inconsistent with Quantum Mechanics altogether. The only difference between the warped spacetime of General Relativity, and the flat spacetime of Special Relativity is very similar to the difference between a stretched rubber membrane, with and without a metal ball placed on it. This paper does not sacrifice any of the spectacular success of General Relativity and also does not compromise with any of the stunningly accurate predictions of Quantum Mechanics. And yet, this paper harmoniously brings Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity together. Just bear in mind that Nature simply cannot afford to make our two greatest theories incompatible. After all, both General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics were based on what nature was actually telling us, and nature herself would be accountable for any genuine contradiction (but not for the breakdown of our physics due to our misunderstanding!). And, by the way, this paper solves some of the most pressing problems in both Physics & Cosmology. The 'Principle of Least Action' which comes closest to a 'Theory of Everything' arises as a direct consequence of better SpaceTime theory proposed in this paper. Also, we can see why the symmetries of nature (which gives rise to the crucial conservation principles in Physics according to the Noether's theorems) arises in the first place. Can quantum biology really do without new physics?

Matti Pitkänen

Quantum biology is now taken rather seriously. Photosynthesis and avian navigation are two key applications of quantum biology. The basic problem in both cases is posed by the fact that the magnetic interaction energy in Earth's magnetic field is roughly million times smaller than thermal energy. The so called radical-pair mechanism (RPM) was proposed already in the 60's as a possible solution to the problem posed by anomalously large effect in EPR and NMR experiments. According to RPM, a radical pair is accompanied by electron pair, which is in a superposition of spin triplet and singlet states and behaves as quantum coherent system for a time sufficiently long to induce chemical effects. The hyperfine interaction of the members of the electron pair with the nuclei of radicals would amplify the effect. The neutralization of radical pair puts an end to the coherence interaction period. The proposal is that RPM gives rise to chemical compass making possible avian navigation. There is however a problem. RPM has been observed in laboratory only for magnetic fields in the range 1 mT-10 T. Earth's magnetic field is only 2 per cent of the lower bound so that it is quite possible that RPM is not at work. This opens up the door for new quantum physics proposed by TGD based model of quantum biology. In this approach magnetic body acts as as intentional agent using biological body as a sensory receptor and motor instrument. Macroscopic quantum coherence is made possible by dark matter realized as a hierarchy of heff = n x h phases. In this article RMP is summarized and compared with the TGD based vision. Also the possible connection between avian navigation and circadian clock suggested by the fact that both involve photoreceptor known as cryptocrome and a possible connection with gravitaxis are considered in TGD framework.

THE COHERENCE SUBSTRATE

Brent, Cory

We discovered that the deepest layer of reality is not made of particles, fields, or spacetime, but of distinction—the structural separation between an observer and the world they observe. This single principle explains why the universe has quantum uncertainty, why spacetime bends, why black holes can’t form singularities, why information is holographic, and why even artificial intelligence breaks down when it tries to learn too much. From one coherence equation, we derived the Schrödinger equation, emergent spacetime geometry, holographic limits, and the universal boundaries that shape all physical law. This “Coherence Substrate” is the engine beneath reality: a simple structural rule that generates every known feature of the universe.

The universe is a macrocosm, and AI is a microcosm.

IHSIEN CHOU

The deepest mystery of the universe lies in the perfect complementarity of two extremes. The microscopic quantum world is turbulent and full of uncertainty, but the universe did not allow it to head towards destruction. Instead, it used a kind of orderly and well-organized "classical tensor network" that resembles a geometric lattice to bind and frame it. It is the absolute stability provided by this classical framework that allows the turbulent quantum entanglement at the bottom to settle, and then "emerge" as the solid Earth beneath our feet and the magnificent gravitational spacetime described by Einstein. The stable, rigorous, and predictable "classical essence" of tensor computation is by no means a flaw. On the contrary, it is precisely the most brilliant aspect of the universe: classical tensors are the ultimate container of order, used to tame the disorder and rage of quantum mechanics. From the birth of the universe to the ultimate endgame of the most powerful AI in the future, the logic of everything remains the same—it requires both: locking in order with a classical framework and igniting speed with a quantum core.

Could Neuronal System and Even GTP Give Rise to a Computer with a Variable Arrow of Time?

Matti Pitkänen

The discussions related to ChatGPT, which seems to work too well to be a mere program running in a classical computer, inspired considerations which led to a considerable progress at the level of the TGD based model of nerve pulse. The emerging model, based on zero energy ontology (ZEO), differs drastically from quantum neural networks and suggests a completely new vision of quantum physics based computation in biosystems. A computation allowing variable arrow of time would be in question involving a sequence unitary time evolutions as counterparts of quantum computations for states, which are superpositions of classical computations, followed by "small" state function reductions (SSFRs) as counterparts of weak measurements of quantum optics and of Zeno effect. Also "big" SFRs (BSFRs) changing the arrow of time would be involved. One can ask whether the unexpected success of GPT might involve this kind of transition so that one could say that spirit enters the machine. Besides the outcomes of two chats, I include a more detailed view about what the TGD view of the quantum analog of GPT could be and how its analog could be involved with the sensory perception in the TGD Universe. I also discuss the inverse diffusion process central for the generation of images from their verbal descriptions and ask whether the TGD analogue of the inverse diffusion could be an essential element of also GPT. I will also pose the question whether GPT could involve TGD based quantum physics, that is zero energy ontology (ZEO), in a non-trivial but hidden way. I also ask whether quantum gravitation in the sense of TGD could make possible for the magnetic bodies of Earth and Sun, central in TGD inspired biology, to transform classical computation so that so that statistical determinism would fail and it would be analogous to a sequence of analogs of quantum computations defining a conscious entity. At the level of magnetic body there would be no essential difference between computers and living matter. The highest reported clock frequency of almost 9 GHz is still by a factor of order 1/8 lower than the quantum gravitational Compton frequency of 67 GHz for Earth but below the THz frequency important in living matter. Perhaps a rudimentary consciousness is already possible.
