Analytical Lindblad Dynamics of Field-Controlled Entanglement and State Fidelity in the Hydrogen Electron-Proton Spins: Interplay of Hyperfine Coupling, Zeeman Effects, and Pure Dephasing

K. Berrada, Smail B. Bougouffa

In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of quantum correlations in the ground-state hyperfine manifold of the hydrogen atom subjected to a static external magnetic field and local pure dephasing. The electron–proton spin pair is modeled as a bipartite two-qubit system evolving under the combined effects of hyperfine coupling, Zeeman splitting, and a Lindblad master equation that describes Markovian dissipative processes. Employing exact analytical solutions for the time-dependent density matrix elements (derived in the Markovian open-system framework), we quantify entanglement persistence via concurrence and state stability via Uhlmann fidelity with respect to the initial preparation. For an initial Werner state, numerical results reveal that the external magnetic field substantially modifies the system dynamics: Both concurrence and fidelity exhibit pronounced dependence on the Zeeman parameter, producing field-controlled oscillations, delayed entanglement sudden death, and altered decoherence rates. This behavior originates from Zeeman-induced lifting of hyperfine degeneracies, symmetry breaking of the isotropic Werner state, and redistribution of populations and coherences. Unlike previous studies that treat hyperfine interactions, Zeeman splitting, or decoherence in isolation, the present work provides a unified analytical treatment that simultaneously incorporates all three mechanisms. The findings underscore the competition between coherent hyperfine coupling and environmental noise and open new pathways for precision spectroscopy and robust quantum information protocols based on atomic spin degrees of freedom.

Electron Spin and Proton Spin in the Hydrogen and Hydrogen-Like Atomic Systems

Stanisław Olszewski

The mechanical angular momentum and magnetic moment of the electron and proton spin have been calculated semiclassically with the aid of the uncertainty principle for energy and time. The spin effects of both kinds of the elementary particles can be expressed in terms of similar formulae. The quantization of the spin motion has been done on the basis of the old quantum theory. It gives a quantum number n = 1/2 as the index of the spin state acceptable for both the electron and proton particle. In effect of the spin existence the electron motion in the hydrogen atom can be represented as a drift motion accomplished in a combined electric and magnetic field.More than 18,000 spin oscillations accompany one drift circulation performed along the lowest orbit of the Bohr atom. The semiclassical theory developed in the paper has been applied to calculate the doublet separation of the experimentally well-examined D line entering the spectrum of the sodium atom. This separation is found to be much similar to that obtained according to the relativistic old quantum theory.

The magnetic field produced by a hydrogen atom

W Gough

The magnetic field in a hydrogen atom is calculated for a number of energy eigenstates. The contributions from both the orbital and spin motion of the electron are considered. The field follows the expected magnetic dipole behaviour only at large distances from the proton, and there may also be contributions due to magnetic octupole, 32-poles... moments. The field pattern is illustrated for a number of cases, and these are briefly discussed.
