Abstract

Constraint satisfaction problems (CSPs) represent a significant class of computational problems that arise in various domains, including artificial intelligence, optimization, and cryptography. Traditional algorithms for solving CSPs often struggle with scalability, particularly when dealing with complex problems and large search spaces. This research investigates the potential of utilizing quantum walks, a quantum analogue of random walks, to develop more efficient algorithms for CSPs. We explore the theoretical underpinnings of quantum walk-based approaches and demonstrate their ability to explore solution spaces more effectively than classical methods. The core claim is that by leveraging quantum mechanics, we can significantly reduce the computational cost associated with solving CSPs. We present a framework for formulating CSPs as quantum walk problems and outline key considerations for designing and implementing such algorithms. The work highlights the promise of quantum computing in tackling intractable problems within the CSP domain.

This paper investigates the application of quantum walk algorithms to the problem of constraint satisfaction. Classical constraint satisfaction problems (CSPs) are notoriously difficult to solve efficiently, particularly as the problem size grows. We propose a novel approach that leverages the inherent exploration capabilities of quantum walks to address this challenge. The core idea involves mapping a CSP onto a graph and then performing a quantum walk on this graph. The quantum walk's probabilistic nature and interference effects are exploited to accelerate the search for satisfying assignments. We detail the theoretical framework, including the formulation of the quantum walk and the key mathematical operations involved. The analysis focuses on demonstrating the potential for speedup compared to traditional classical CSP solvers. The core claim is that classical CSPs can benefit from the exploration capabilities of quantum walks. The proposed mechanism utilizes quantum walks on graphs to explore the search space of CSPs, leveraging interference effects to accelerate the process of finding solutions.
